I rarely ever start thread , but i had to post some pics of my very first rollerset EVER! ive never even done one when i had relaxed hair. i need your honest opinion pls. cause i dont want to walk around like a crazy person ... lol... :look:

what do you think?
its been brushed ( bad habit, i always brush out curls when i got my hair done) and a lil puffy but that can be improved with practise.

should i use smaller rollers? should i not brush it out next time? or should i give up on rollersetting altogether?

I can't say what or what not to do (rollerset challenged:ohwell:) but I think your hair is thick and beautiful and the rollerset turned out good in my opinion!:yep:

Congratulatins on your first rollerset! My Honest Opinion: I've admired your hair for a while now, and I think it is so beautiful, whether it's straight or curly...it's all good! I wouldn't change a thing.

I think you did a good job.
I would do some finishing touches like the saran wrap "method"
just to loosen your roots a little and and give a smoother
look without having to flat iron.

Your hair looks nice:up:

I suppose it depends on the look that you were trying to achieve:scratchch If you wanted tighter curls, use smaller rollers. You may want to spritz each section with diluted setting lotion (i.e. Lottabody) if you want the curls to hold. SIt under the dryer for smotther curls than air dried ones.

My experience has been that finger combing works better to style than using a comb and/or brush.

thank you all!!

Ill have to try that seran method as well, i ve heard nothing but good things about it.

I had the hardest time getting my "roots" flat though, they were so curly and didnt want cooperate. you can see them just hiding there waiting to taking my whole head lol.

It depends on what type of look you are going for. If you want loose waves, then what you used for this rollerset accomplished that. I think it looks good, especially for your first try.

Looks good! You could flat iron your roots with Chi Silk for smoother roots. The more you practice, the better you will get. Good luck.

I'm going to come from a different angle - you did a rollerset on NATURAL hair????? Are you kidding???

That's fantastic!! You should see my first rollerset on my natural hair - it looked a hot friggin mess. And I still can't seem to get it down. What I tend to end up with are huge curls from the rollers and then bumps all over the place from my natural hair because I wasn't able to get the hair around the roller tight enough.

GREAT job!!!

it looks great...I would think its relaxed...I love the look
I agree with some of the other women to play around with the roller size if you want tight curls on the bottom

thanks again everyone, i appreciate all the comments and great suggestions!

ill keep on practising and hopefully one day ill be lhcf rollersetting pro :)

thanks!

You airdried natural hair and it came out that straight? Wow!
My roots are ridiculous too I do the saran wrap thing and then
I do flat iron my roots but I only do this once every 3 months
so it's not that bad... but I think it would come out just as smooth
if you wrapped it or pincurled and tied it up with a scarf overnight...
it always looks looks better the next day. For me anyway.

I so agree - that roller set is on your naturally curly hair - you already are the lhcf roller set champ. When I saw the picture, I was looking at the curly pics, and thought, "oh, she relaxed her hair." Roller setting on relaxed hair is easy; on natural hair, not so easy at all.

It looks fab!

No matter what anyone would have to say about your hair girl, the fact that you wrapped your natural hair around a roller, AND air dried, AND it came out pretty? (I forgot to add that you air dried too????)
:urock:

I agree that the next time instead of brushing it out, once you take the rollers out, you may just finger comb it. It will retain some of your curls longer.

Wrapping relaxed hair is a feat (at least for me it is) and it takes me forever and a day. If you don't mind my asking, how long did it take you and what was the secret to getting your roots around the roller smoothly? What products did you use?

I would have to stay you have done a stellar job. Roller-setting natural hair is a serious matter. Trust me I know.

Great job!
