I tried an oil rinse over the weekend and I was in the shower where I always wash my hair and once I started with the oil the entire tub got coated with a layer of slippery death.:ohsnap: Am I the only one this has happened too? It never even crossed my mind that this could be dangerous until I was tumbling out of the shower. I had nothing to grab on to as I went plummeting towards the hard porcelain toilet. The shower curtain tried it's hardest to stop me as it clung to my wet skin for dear life but it's efforts were in vain. :nono:

Needless to say I had to wash out the tub before venturing back in but not before I completed my rinse in the SINK.:perplexed No worries, my hair was okay just a few advil for my back but not a single strand was hurt in the process. Never again.

Awww I'm sorry to hear this happened to you. I did an oil rinse this saturday and I too forgot to rinse out the tub (I actually bent over the tub to rinse out my hair). It wasn't until my mom came into my room to tell me how she almost died that I realized it. Next time you do it you may want to bend over the tub or stand up and turn the shower on (you standing outside the tub). I hope you feel better!

How much oil did u use? It doesnt take much at all and I think some of that is absorbed into your hair so when u rinse it shouldnt be enough to have u slipping and sliding around like that. Glad you are alive though!

For real girl that is what I am wondering. I only use enough just to coat the hair with a thin layer. I always wash mine out in the shower though so it may just settled in the tub when you were using it. Glad we didn't have our first oil rinse casualty!!! Q

:lachen::lachen:I was only supposed to use a little?:lachen::lachen: Oh! Anyway, I was fine just thought I'd share the laugh.

Wow! You are lucky not to have hurt yourself or died. That's why I don't wash my hair in the shower. I hold over the tub. Whenever I oil rinse I wash the tub down after so anyone going in after I've finished doesn't break their neck.

lmao. :lachen: I've done this many times, and I've feel on my marble floor. The tub, when washing, is so dangerous. I tend to laugh at my fall afterwards, and then the pain kicks in. I've done what you did, too. It is dangerous. :yep: That is how many elderly people die and get injured.

I stand and lean over the tub
but when i go to do my first cowash in awhile and oil rinse i'll remember to be real careful or bring in a extra hand towel to stand on while cowashing and oil rinsing

That's terrible! :nono:

I'm a tub-falling veteran, :armyhat: and I have to say, when I saw the thread about oil rinses, I just knew it wasn't for me for this very reason. (Unless I was planning to rinse in the kitchen sink - I have really deep basins.)

I'm very paranoid when it comes to tub slippage. Maybe you can try a rubber mat? They make me feel a whole lot safer. :yep: I hope your back is better soon!

Have you ever slipped on some coconut milk? :nono: I did...twice ... so I feel your pain. I hope you're okay. Now you know to lay off the oil!! :yep:

I've done that with conditioner and rinsing out hot oil treatments, especially as the drain gets slow from too much hair. I keep clarifying shampoo on the shower shelf to help. I pour it in the tub.

Thanks for the compliment...my albums aren't empty though. You just have to be signed into Fotki to view them. I had to change the settings a while ago.

Let me know if that works for you!

When you are doing body scrubs which are mostly oil-based and anything pretty much oil based, put a towel inside the tub to create friction and even a towel on the ledge since it might create friction. This happened to me once when I was doing a sugar body scrub and it left the shower oily. You may wonder how I scrub in the shower, I just turn the head away so the water won't rinse the scrub away.:look:

This happened to me, too, and I didn't think I used that much EVOO.

I was just a little too embarrased to make a thread... :look:

I started to laugh cause I knew what you talking about based on the title. I nearly buss my **** whenever I oil rinse.

My laughing stopped as soon I read about your fall. I'm glad you're okay.
