It looks like she just braided straight back and rolled off to the side in a cinnamon bun fashion...HTH!
I want to join the challenge also. BGE is killing us with the electric bills, so that means no air-conditioning for a while

I was looking at the first post and I saw one of the models with a herringbone braid. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do that.

thanks.

ok, so I was interested in the herringbone/fishtail braid after cocochanty asked about it. I tried those tutorials that I posted but they confused me. I'll leave them there incase they are helpful. But I went to youtube and found one there and I DID IT!!!

seems like the fishtail allows more of the length to be seen whereas braids shrink the hair upward.

Here is the tutorial I used http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH29NksHYQo

Good job. It does make your hair look longer.

i'm in.

i'm pretty much no heat anyway
but every once in a while i get tempted
and usually fall into it...but only for length checking purposes
for some reason, i havent felt comfortable wearing straight hair out
maybe because i dont like the results i get haha.

i will be wearing twist outs for the most part.

to do my style i will slather conditioner onto (medium sized) sections of hair
and twist each section at night...cover it up and sleep with it
then i will hop in the shower in the morning
and unravel the twists under the running shower water

Hey Ladies!

For inspiration...I wanted to add some NO/LOW HEAT DIVAS OF LHCF!

Isis http://public.fotki.com/Isis33/
DSylla http://members.fotki.com/dsylla/
Prospurr4 http://members.fotki.com/prospurr4/
Cichelle http://public.fotki.com/Cichelle/

They from relaxed, texlaxed, natural...3b-4b...thick to fine strands...you name it...

If they can do it, so can we...

'Preciate ya! I need the inspiration, but have used no heat for the month of May, so I'm 1/4th of the way through, so I am pretty sure I can finish out strong. I can't wait for a hair reveal at the end of August...

Thanks! Love the fishtail!!!

Hey ladies, I haven't checked in... in a few weeks; I'm still not using heat. I may need a pass soon though, because a relaxer is calling my name, and I would love to have a nice flat ironed head of hair. This may be the only pass I ask for...

I hope :perplexed

I’m in this challenge for real, yo.

Okay, I just joined the co-wash challenge also, I think. I posted my regimen over there anyway. I think that means I’m in.

Plan of Care until September (starting late-ending late)

Co-wash every other day with HE moisturizing conditioner in the shower.
Wrap hair in towel.
Remove towel, detangle into four sections with the one Jilbere comb that I can find. Put on the Mizani night time, ORS carrot and BT. Skritch for a little bit.

I then Bantu with a center part. In the morning, I fluff curls with mango butter and a little castor oil doing my best to lay down my edges because of thinning.
The next day is usually a bun and then start the process again until the weekend when I co-wash and then DC with either ORS moisturizing pack or Elasta breakage control serum if hair seems mushy from all the moisture.

I will probably flat iron on the weekend to track progress and then I’ll be done for awhile. I’m still trying to figure out a reason to straighten. I’m transitioning and the curls are cuter than when I flatiron my uber thin hair. So there’s really no justification for straightening anyway.

I used a pass after the first week or so. I had to henna my hair and I need the hooded dryer. Its ok if you need heat. Just know that you have two more

I'm still hanging in there:yep:...I haven't used one of my passes yet, bc I know I need at least two of them for a bridal shower and wedding later this summer...

I have a wedding in July.
Should I flat iron (I am an awful rollersetter) or sew-in weave?
What do you ladies think?

I'm late, but I'm in!

I lost about an inch yesterday due to heat and other hair abuse :nono:
Ridiculous, since it's my third trim of '08, but I;m getting serious now!

Still in there! I'm in between bunning and using flexi rods for styling. I'm falling back in love w/ my airdried hair, I love wearing it fluffy:yep:. So as not to get bored w/ my buns, I have tried different ways to bun (like Traycee's). I also have new hair toys, I bought a Flexi 8 clip and also made some beaded flowers to place in my hair. I may try the bantu knots and braidouts again soon...

This is just me, but if I could do a sew-in and have it look nice, I would do that. Less fuss, and stress and it will last longer...:yep: and...you don't have to use a pass...

thank you SuperNova that was really helpful.

You're welcome coco. I still haven't incorporated the fishtail into a style yet.

I've been keeping up the no heat vow. I am in a braid out right now. I have also been using my sulfur concoction and I have seen some serious growth already. I'm excited.
