I’m starting a new CHALLENGE especially for the 2009 Inaugural Ceremony (January 20, 2009) in honor of President Obama and the beautiful first family.

The rules are simple from the start date of this Sunday, November 9th until January 18th - you have exactly 10 WEEKS to do whatever you need to do to get FINE….as in “CNN-coverage - the whole world will be watching US in front of the U.S. Capitol.......... FINE!

This challenge may be just hair-related or you may also have fitness, skin, or fashion goals as well.

Just tell us what you plan to WORK ON (to get ready for the Inaugural Ceremony in sprit, if you’re not coming into town) and DO it!

Let’s have a weekly countdown. Yes, we can!

I’ll go first, I plan to:

  • I plan to get the prefect blowout of my full APL hair. I’m not APL yet but plan to be by then! :yep:

  • I plan to buy and wear the prefect size-10 dresses and skirts with killer heels for the events around town! :yep:

  • I plan to practice and wear prefect (camera ready) makeup to highlight my even toned skin! :yep:

  • I plan to buy a super cute coat with bright glove-hat-scarf combo (its going to be cold in DC during January) to stay warm in style. :yep:

Ok, cool! This is going to be a great time for us. We should look as good as we will be feeling!

1. I plan to lose 12 pounds.

2. Grow my hair out at least one inch.

3. Stop chewing on my nails so I can have some kind of nails to polish!

ETA~ You're lucky to be living there. I want to go and stand outside of the White House and dance if I couldn't get in. All of the hotels are booked solid and flights are diminishing. I guess a lot of people have that same plan. If they can't get in, they'll be outside.

This challenge it too cute! My main thing will be to continue on my diet so hopefully I will be looking good in a size 8 or 6 dress..a 6 might be a little ambitious:lachen:I am starting my chemical peels next week so my skin will be looking nice and as far as the hair, I really dont know. I will be closer to WL but I doubt if I will be wearing it down.

1. I will lose a minimum of 10 lbs.
2. Find the perfect shoes and accessories to go with this dress I've been saving for a "sepcial" occasion.
3. Get a french manicure done on my natural nails (I've started to take care of them again and they are finally getting some length)

Luckily we have connects to an agency that helps organize trips...so we'll be there. As for getting ready, I'll be wearing a nice blow-out but I'll be preparing myself for rain. So I guess the only thing I really can do to prepare is what I'm doing now LOL taking care of my hair and trying to get my body right.

Thanks for this great challenge! I am trying to decide if I am going to go to the US or stay in Bermuda to celebrate...

I am have been slacking of lately so I going to get back on my high protein/low carb routine and get back to taking my supplements regularly. I want to lose at least 10 lbs.

I am trying to decide if I should straighten (for the first time) and trim so that I can join the no cutting on '09 challenge, get weaved up for the holidays, or wait and straighten on my b-day. On 1-20-2009 I am going to party like it's my birthday - cuz it is!

This is a great challeneg I will join .
1. I will lose 15 pounds by that time.
2. I will wear my hair straight
3. I will have KILLER accessories to represent my race well and myself at the event.
4. I have already told my principal I will not be at work that week......

Oh, this is fun!

I am going to hit the gym and lose the ten pounds that have been buggin me.
Start bunning my hair.
Eat a more healthful diet.
Replenish my body, mind, and spirit. Lately I have not taken care of any of them.
Give myself weekly mani's and pedi's
Finally reach APL!!! Ugg I am so close.
(find a boo maybe? i might need to venture off in the relationship forum, lol)

LOVE LIFE AND LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST!!!!

For the next 10 weeks (since my Hope has been nourished) I'm also going to be nourishing my body, spirit and mind.
1. I'm going to eat only when hungry and only nourishing healthy foods and water. I will only eat real food (no fast food or junk food) and drink only water.

2. I will not be using heat on my hair and I will continue to conditioner only wash... hopefully I will obtain another inch of hair! :yep:

3. I will read my bible daily, meditate on my sermons (cd's from our worship services) and read up on my favorite book in this whole wide word (Life's Missing Instruction Manual)

4. I will get plenty of sleep.

5. I will make sure I give my husband plenty of black lovin' (:lick: Obama and Michelle are inspiring me!)

6. I will buy myself a new peice to add to my wardrobe every week.

7. I will show my son love and affection every day.

i want my hair to be able to rest comfortably on the top of my bra strap by then.
i want to stop drinking sodas
i want clear and toned skin
and i would love to lose 5-10 pounds.

I'm going to lose 12 lbs
hopefully get another inch of hair, maybe i'll wait to relax then instead of before new years
get more even toned skin

get outside more with the kids
get my hairline together (stress is really taking a toll on me)
maintain a size 6
take all of my vits everyday
keep my nails up
and get my skin cleared

I'm in!! I live in Dc so I have already been plotting and planning.

1. I will be FULL SL by then & I will have a fresh blowout
2. I will stay toned by running at least twice a weeks so I can run alongside the motorcade.
3. Splurge on tickets to at least one fabulous inauguration event
4. Get a new coat because it's going to be cold!
5. I will study more b/c I want to finish law school successfully like Obama

I'll add anything else I can think of....

1. Continue exercising
2. Get a wash & set at a hair salon on my freshly self relaxed hair

1. I will lose another 10 pounds.
2. I will stay toned by weight lifting at least 3-4 times a week, but cardio EVERY DAY
3. I will keep my nails up, and continue to use Dettol and Medimix to get my skin right.
4. I will follow my new hair care regimen (complete with CURLFORMERS binge)
5. I will carry myself with dignity, respect, and act in the fashion like Obama, calm collected under pressure and ignorance; in a demeanour fitting a child of God and a queen of the diaspora; with swagger squared.
6. Clean up my wardrobe. Why should Michelle be the only fly one?
7. Do 90% alkaline and 10% acidic foods.
8. Pray more.
9. Meditate often, and fast once a week (did it twice successfully; tomorrow will be three times-fast until sundown then only raw fruits and veggies to break the fast)
10. Oh, I almost forget, get my hairline together. I have the tools but I need to put things into action.
peace...

Since my flight has been booked, and my lodging confirmed I am in %110.

1) Get my hair straightened (I BC'd on Feb 1, 2008 and didn't intend to length check until my one year nappturalversary, but Barack and the family are worth it!!!). I want to be fierce and camera ready when they span the sea of folks at Inauguration.

2) Make sure I find a fly coat b/c we Florida girls don't get to wear "real" winter coats too often, and I am truly lacking in that area.

3) Keep the shoe game fierce, making additions where ever I see fit.

4) ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE, ACCESSORIZE!!!

5) Finally, make sure my skin and nails are on point!!!!

10 weeks, can we do it? YES WE CAN!!!!! :lachen:
(Corny I know, but I couldn't help it)

Yess I im!!

1) I plan to lose at least 15 lbs
2)I will get my hair straightened professionally(it's been over a year and a half..)
3)I will have sick 'fits for that entire week cause I know at my school we will be doing it big the whole week lol
4) I will make sure my skin is beautiful and clear by taking extra care of it!

Love this idea!! Good luck everyone and I can't wait to see you in Chocolate City!

Ooh fun, I'll join! I've been slipping and need to get it all back together.

-I will add weights into my fitness reggy(I keep falling off with toning)
-Revisit sulfur seeing as how I did'nt get the length I wanted in the past 6 months. I'm getting my 2 more inches!
-Treat myself to a salon mani pedi.

Most likely I will be sitting in front of my t.v or at work during the inauguration, but I plan to be fly while doing it!

I'm in.
Continue to work towards my goal size of 8.
Take care of my braids and keep my hair moisturized.
Apply a growth aid at least weekly.
Keep my eyebrows looking neat.
Slowly add make up into my daily routine. Q

I will...
  • Acheive BSL hair and straighten (maybe professionally) it for the inaugural gala (YES I AM GOING)
  • Continue to improve my skin :yep:
  • Do as many squats as possible (tight thighs, calves, and booty) :lick:
  • Buy a stunning dress for the gala

  • Manicure and Pedicure is in order
  • Re-decorate my house
  • Give love, love, and more love

I'm definitely in but I have to think of exactly what I'll be doing. I'll get back to you on it. lol

Continue to build my wardrobe, piece by piece
Get my organization up and running
Stop making excuses and procrastinating

Ok, I am so excited about this opportunity, and I hope that I am able to make this trip. My goals are as follow:
1. I will wear my size 6 comfortably.
2. Not only will I wear a size 6, but I will also have six-pack abs(or at least some definition).
3. My hair will be full BSL by then, and I continue my supplements to get it growing. No heat except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
4. I will get back in school in January to say that I can do anything if Barack can be President; I can go back to school.
5. I will be down to 90% clean food, only eating meat 2x a week.
6. I will teach my son to spell 10 words by then. (Cat, Dog, It, Jayden, Cow, Pig, Mom, Dad, Me, You)
7. I will continue to exercise 2x a day for 5 days a week for another 2 weeks, and then I will work out 6x a week for an hour.
8. I will re-learn the Preamble and understand the Constitutional implications of it more and what it means for me and my family.
9. I will pray and learn more about God and ask for direction for my family.
10. I will choose daily to go out of my house not only looking like someone who could officially speak for Barack, but I want my family to be a living example for the people around us what a strong, loving, smart, black family looks like to the masses.

I would like to be in
1) Continue with my leg magic, so that I can become more fit.
2) Continue being consistent with my hair
3) Finish writing my Winter Tale and start a Spring story
4) Decorate my daughter's and my bedroom.

I'm in! I'll drop 20 pounds, work on moisturizing my skin every night before bed, and will find the perfect dress for the Gala on the 19th!!! Of course I'm going to have to work on getting the ends of my hair together if I'm going to wear my hair straight that week!!!
