So, I frequent beauty pageant messageboards pretty often, and I'm always disturbed by the number of IGNORANT @#$#@"* comments some non-blacks make. http://voy.com/191501/

This is the most recent which is in response to a question I had.

Me "I WANT THE GLOW CRYSTLE HAS IN ALL HER PHOTOS!!Can someone PLEASE tell me her secret to that glow?? I've seen Angelina Jolie look like that too. What is it??"

Other person- Well she is black - Black women naturally have glowing skin because they don't tan and fry their faces at tanning salons. Its genetics - look at Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Vivica Fox....even heavy Queen Latifah. Aged, yet difficult to tell their age, because they are still glowing. I think God gave women of European decent great hair and black women great skin!loL! Its a fair trade, and thank God for hair extensions, and make-up! (NT) -- Crystle Fan

Freaking rude a@#$ dumb@#$@#%.....

I mean, this is nothing new to us right? Just about EVERYONE including black men think our hair is so INFERIOR! I'm tired of it!!

I'm not religious, but my father is. So I thought I'd try that "does God make mistakes?" thing on him. And that's exactly what he said, that it's a trade-off. White people got better hair and we got better skin. I mean, if you're going to go with the "God don't make mistakes" idea, you have to also accept that there's nothing inferior about white people's skin, too. And I guess he wasn't going for that.

I think it is a shame that our hair has been so hated on, though. :( In great part, we've bought it, too.

That was a very ignorant statement. The nerve of some people.

I have to admit that were are blessed though. We age so gracefully and we grow BEAUTIFUL hair!

I was mainly mad about the hair comment, but as for the skin thing... yeah I'm grateful for my skin which might get discrimination but will age beautifully!

Holy Moly, were she fully awake when she typed this.

I think that maybe God was being creative when he made whites, black, asians look different from each other and maybe it has something to do with the climate in which they are in too. *shrugs* I don't know.

Is our skin color discriminated against because it is so beautiful. Why call someone a d****e and then go get a tan.

I love my hair and my skin. One of the reasons for our hair texture is to protect our heads from the hot african sun (so I've read). And who on this earth said white people had better hair. I can think of far many other races of people with beautiful hair. I don't think they (white women) were included in the trade off:rolleyes:. IMO, white people's hair is kind of like their skin color, it is just there, nothing special. Since I 've been on this hair board I have noticed a lot of white women who needed help in the hair department:lachen:.

Exactly! That's what makes the comment even more offensive, as if they never have bad hair days. :ohwell:

Look at what this guy just tried to add to quell the situation:

You shouldn't take any offense! I don't believe the poster said anything about black women having bad hair, they just said black women have great skin. I agree!!! (NT) -- Hooked, 18:49:44 11/11/08 Tue

HELLO! The lady said it was a TRADE OFF. What ever.

Wait, why did I just now notice that she is not only thanking god for hair extensions, but also for make-up? geez. it just gets worse and worse.

What I've heard is that they want to be darkie, like jennifer Lopez but not as dark as African-Americans. I'm just wondering why this same logic can't be applied when they say AAs are trying to be white by straightening our hair. Just cause' our hair is straight doesn't mean it is going to be the same texture as theirs so why try to act as if we are trying to be white if they aren't trying to be as dark as most black people when tanning.

Is she saying that God for extensions with black people and that we need makeup too?

It's not that white people have beautiful hair, it's that they have straight hair. The two are not synonymous.

Whatever makes some people feel better about themselves, I'd rather be bald and black than have a white woman's hair. Darker skinned people whether black, Hawaiian, Indian of Asian will age better because Increased melanin protects the skin from sun damage. So its an ignorant statement, but I really don't think the person who posted meant it as an insult to black women. That person has probably met a lot of black girls with jacked up hair, and just doesn't know better.

Actually to me, her thanking God for hair extensions made me think she's black herself (and brainwashed) :ohwell:

Hmmmm, I would rather have afro kinky hair and silky, wrinkle free skin, than saggy, droppy facial skin with thick lines, and straight hair.:nono: That doesn't sound like a trade off. We just have both(beautiful hair and nice skin)and unfortunatley, we and 'others' are too stupid to realize it:ohwell:.

That doesn't sound like a comment from a non-black person. This sounds like a black person - reeling off the names of black actresses...

Anyway, don't get yourself stressed over nonsense like this.

I have the best of both worlds  I have never heard anybody saying something like this before. Wow...

::scuttles back under the rock I apparently have been living under::

She's thanking god for make-up for white people since they have bad skin. People, you have to understand this person's (il)logic. :drunk:

Yes, I think that is what she is saying?:look:
No. That's not what she's saying.
