Ok, before I scare anyone off there is NOT a no-buy component to this challenge.:grin: There are other no-buy challenges in effect right now and I don't want to compete.

The purpose is for PJ's (and members with all stash sizes, large and small) to use (at least once) or give away every item in their stash by March 31, 2009. We all know we're in a recession and it can be tough thinking about how to purchase that new appliance, or expensive conditioner that everyone is raving about. Instead, I want to focus on being thankful for my vast stash :look: and actually put it all to good use, rather than show my love to just a few products.

Ever since I discovered Redken, just about all of my other products go neglected. :perplexed So I want to make sure I use everything, and if I don't like it, I'm giving it away to someone who can use it.

So here are the rules:
  1. Organize and/or inventory your stash. Gather up all your lovelies and make them easy to access. :grouphug2:You may choose to keep a spreadsheet if your stash is large, or you may just store like items together.
  2. Get rid of the stuff you know doesn't work. Why let it take up valuable space in your house?

  3. Use every single one of your hair products at least once over the next 3 months (with the exception of chemical treatments such as hair dyes and relaxers). If your stash isn't that big, you may be able to use everything a lot more than once.
  4. Use all of your appliances and tools in a way that complements your hair goals. For instance, if you're on a no heat challenge, then your flat iron will just have to continue collecting dust. But if you haven't been using your Pibbs because you don't feel like rolling it out of the closet :look: go ahead and fire that bad boy up and get your money's worth!!!!
REWARD:
Select one way that you will treat yourself if you use all of your products at least once by March. My reward: a facial. :gorgeous:

Any takers? :look:

I can def. do this-my stash isn't that big-and with my regimen, I know I will be using up a lot of my conditioners. I haven't decided what my reward will be...maybe some 2 or 3 really nice deep conditioners.

im in. i have everything......lol i really do. i have several bottles of redken all soft shampoo, conditioner and heavy cream that i love but havent used in a long while. i will start to use that.

Cool! Thanks everyone for joining! I'll update the first post with all names. Please check in at least once a week just to let us know how you're doing.

I need to join this!! I have a whole container of conditioner poo protein treatments moisturizers and sealants.....body wash, lotion, soap...you know everything dealing with water. Oh well, cleanliness is close to Godliness right? loool

Yes it is!!! If my hair and body products stash is any indication....:look:

Anyway, you've been added!

Today I'm dc'ing with Joico k-pak - haven't used it for months. It looks like I only have 1 more use so I should be able to finish up my first product since starting this challenge! I put on a plastic cap, tied with a scarf and will work out for 30 min so my body heat warms it up. Then I will cw with Joice intense hydrator - another one I haven't used in a while.

I also sprayed my hair with tap water mixed with a couple drops of peach oil from Body Shop that has just been laying around. It gave my hair a nice soft peach scent. :yep:

I still have all my Redken's Smooth Down samples on my dresser staring back me, lol. Maybe i'll do something to my hair tonight with them. I'll check back later.

So I washed my hair yesterday and hennaed overnight, rinsed and DC'd today- I'm really making progress with using my conditioners.

For my wash I used ORS Aloe and Suave Humectant. I really like these two products and I def. see myself using them more in the future--> I will be repurchasing the humectant when I rid myself of at least 2 conditioners.

I rinsed with out my henna with HE LTR which I liked better than rinsing with the VO5 so I will continue to use the HE LTR to rinse out my henna. I have a lot of the HE conditioner so it will take me a while to use this up.

Finally, I DC'd with Abba Creme Masque mixed with rosemary and peppermint EO, which I absolutely love- I'm sooooo sad that I didn't get more of this conditioner while it was on sale at Marshalls. It works really well on my hair. If I want to buy it now, I have to pay $17 for 6 oz!!!! Anyway, I have almost used up the last bottle I have of this stuff.

I applied MOP leave in-which remain a staple. I have 1/2 a liter of this left.

I love Redken Smooth Down line. :yep::lick:

I've heard good things about Abba. It does feel good to use stuff up, but when it's your staple it does suck. :perplexed

So I'm trying to use up things in unconventional ways. I saw some ads for glimmer/shimmery hair products for the holidays. I grabbed some of my Lily White MAC pigment and mixed it with EVOO. It gave my hair a nice subtle sparkle.

How're you doing ladies? I used my Aveda Dry Remedy conditioner today, it's been gathering dust for at least 6 months. I'm down to one more use from 1 of my 3 :look: bottles of Sap Moss concentrate (pre-poo treatment). I am almost done with my EVOO. I also used my Redken All Soft shampoo.

So I've been hitting my products pretty well. How about you?

I would love to join!!! I have alll kinds of conditioners and shampoos that are not being used.

My BF Sale of Hairveda Products arrived last week so I know I'm in trouble....lol.

I just pre- poo'd with VO5 Strawberry's and Cream Con and it was lovely!!!! I haven't used this stuff since I gave up on it months ago.

I washe, DC, and hennaed again this week. I also co washed mid week and used the last of my Jessicurl WDT mixed w. another conditioner. It worked out good. My abba is gone now and I am tempted to do an online search, so we will see. I am making progress in using up a lot of my conditioners since I incoporated henna and midweek co-wash in my routine.

Is it too late to join? I have some some a need to get rid of....

Sure, I'll add you now! :yep:

I'll add you now! I haven't tried Harveda yet. Maybe after this challenge ends (and I have used up some of my 50-11 products :look:) I'll splurge. Please post a review!

Cool, how do you like the henna? I have heard good things about Abba and I have seen a couple of their products at Marshall's for pretty cheap. Have you tried there? Oh, cowashing is def a great way to use up conditioners and help your hair in the process. :yep:

I planned to do this anyway so it won't be hard. I definitely plan to use up what I have before buying new stuff.

So i have used 2 out of the 10 bottles of V05 condish i had. Its a start considering that they've been sitting under my sink for at least 2 months. Next is my full jar of Queen Helene. lol, now this will be a challenge

Thanks for adding me. I am in the process of trying to use up this braid spray, infusium 23, and surge at the same time. All this stuff has been sitting in my hair stash for like a year. I am wearing cornrolls under my LF so I am spraying my hair/ scalp with these items daily.

ha ha i forgot i have a jar of relaxed and naturals mask so i cant wait to try that.
i also forgot i have wale sperm conditioner wich i never tried.
this is gonna be fun.

It's going great! I'm actually not home but I brought some Joico samples and other sample leave in that I am about to use right now. I'm resisting the urge to get those Redken gift sets for 50% off (3 products for $10!)

LOL @ whale sperm. Try it and tell us what it is and how it works.

I just recieved my bottle of Colorshowers in UVA(grape)!! I am so anxious to try it. I think i'm going to let my beautician put it in instead of me. I will post pics when i get it done. :)
