My daughter's father step mom left this comment. This is the second time she done said something kinda out the way. She is white. In her defense my pic said "Who said black girls can't grow hair" And she left this comment

That comment was out of line...but I can already see an e-line forming to defend your ex's wife...."what she said wasn't so bad, she doesn't know any better..."

And she's wrong, we CAN grow hair! But in our community, there are widespread bad hair care practices that makes it hard for most AA to retain and thus see length. I think this is a good opportunity to educate her.
 
She certainly has nerve. That is so typical. Can't stand that. I would just delete that message and just add on your blog apparently we CAN grow hair.
 
Yeah, I agree with just deleting the comment.

For some reason, I find the way she wrote it kind of obnoxious. It isn't even that she said, but the fact that she wrote it from the stance of Black women would be hating as if she knows how Black women think. You know what I mean?
 
IOW, this woman is your mother-in-law of sorts? LOL...let it slide, for now. It's later when she's around your kid (if she is) that you check her.

Unfortunately YOU asked the question, so you got an answer. Shrug. If she were anybody but you MiL, I might respond, but see above.

Yup, I do, but unfortunately she's right for too many. Some things people ought to keep to themselves, but that doesn't mean she's inaccurate.

The OP set herself up w/ that question. There's LHCF and everywhere else where this woman's beliefs are far more common....sorry, OP.
 
Alot of people dont know how to give a compliment properly.

They think it'll make you feel better if they put down most women in your race because sadly alot of women get off on that kinda thing:nono:

You should be glad it was just a myspace message, you should hear some of the things people say to me face to face. I had one dude say WOW you're Haitian! You're the prettiest haitian I EVER seen, then busted out laughing obviously implying most Haitians are busted this dude was like actually a friend of mine too. I was like:blush: wtf kinda compliment is that?!?! Then I started pointing out all the Haitian girls he didnt know were Haitian and he got his mind right and apologised*sighs*:nono:

I was talking to another friend of mine who was complaining about something with her thin relaxed overlapped overprocessed hair and I tried to give her some tips and she was like well you can do that natural thing you got that Haitian hair for that I looked at her like:look: first when I was little I had bad nappy hair now people are telling me I got that good Haitian hair?

I have men give me perfectly nice compliments on my hair and then ruin it by tryna throw all other sista's under the bus and I tell them straight up they're wrong and that extra part was unecessary.

Thankfully most of the times I'll get a perfectly nice compliment where a brotha will say your hair is beautiful its nice to see a sista with long thick hair thats hers and we'll have a pleasant exchange where I'll say there are other ladies like me out there:love2:

Excuse her but I'm "haten" on the Indian ladies with that thick, luscious, jet black hair, mkay, not some stringy haired blanca! :lol:
 
Lemma ask y'all this. Why does a comment like this bother you (personally)so much? I assume your hair is growing and looking good, right? So why do you need validation that what's happening (your hair growing) from other people? You have the proof to the contrary on your head!

Let's face it, most BW DO NOT have long hair. There are many reasons for it, but most don't. This being the case, people thinking they CANNOT isn't entirely illogical...they simply don't know the reasons why they DO NOT.

It wasn't a question to be answered but I understand where you are coming from. It was a comment that was put up there cause I try to add something under all my pics.

One time she said something along the lines of "Atleast her hair isn't as nappy *** *insert my DD father name* HUH? I ignored that too.

She is Tina Marie white I guess. You should see her pic on there. Fake *** phony pony lookin a hot mess. It didn't really bother me. I think it's funny and I feel sad for her.
 
You know, some White folks think that dating/marrying/screwing a Black person gives them access, and they get a little too comfortable with the things the say. :nono:

It's arguable that those things DO give "access" :grin:, but people should really consider what falls out of their mouths/keyboards whatever the circumstances. That post to the OP sounded so dumb...that's her MiL? :nono: More like a 13 year old boy. :lachen: I'm surprised she didn't write "they b h8n" LOL

it doesnt really bother me...i mean i knw alot of black girls that are nappy headed with little hair...its not their fault...they just dont knw how to take care of their care..no-1s taught them..oh-well..i thnk alot of older "strong black women" tend to blow things way out of proportion & over analyze things..maybe b/c im still young.
 
^^^^LOL. Her access to my child will probably be limted since she lives way somewhere else. So I would check her if I talked to her but since I been ignoring her for awhile Ima just keep doing that. But lol @ HER

How do you write one sentence and misspell four words and have improper punctuation throughout?

I LOL'd when I first read it. She thought she was being "cool". I think it's a little offensive (though she thought she was complimenting you I assume) I would delete the comment and ignore it.
 
OMG I don't think it's that serious either. Just something funny to talk about.

Like I said she was trying to compliment me but this is the second time she said something and i was like "WOW she's serious"
 
I lolled too. I immediately imagined a nice-looking white lady in a cardigan and tortoiseshell glasses drinking a 40 and saying "ur blessed with hair cuz most black gurls cant grow hair, i know they haten." :lol:

Anyway, I don't think she meant any harm by it. I bet she thought it'd make you feel good to hear it. I'd just delete it and keep it moving.
