I'm just curious. I remember there was a girl when I was in high that had mid back length hair and wore it straight down everyday and I always wondered if she flat ironed everyday or just had a really good nightly routine...well I still dont know what she did but oh well lol.

Currently i make a ponytail with my hands..twirl it around and put it in a bun with a ouchless band.

I used to wrap it but its time consuming/I'm too tired and lazy, I want to retain length and it was pointless since I've started protective styling.

I tried the crosswrap..hated it. Maybe if I perfect it but my hair always had a crease in the back from where it folded to the other side.

I vowed to never let my hair touch a cotton pillow case again. last year i got lazy and would tie a scarf around my edges and let the back hang out..yep I found broken strands the next day too. :nono:

How do you ladies wear yours for bed?
What were some of the things you did before bed that didn't help your hair?

I wear a head tie or just sleep on a silk pillowcase.

When I was relaxed, I would wrap my hair every night.

Now that I'm natural, I only wrap when I flat iron, but most times I'm so lazy that I just leave it out and sleep on a silk pillowcase.

I cowash nightly so I let it air dry for about 2 hours then I put one braid in the back, wrap that around like a bun and tuck the ends in and wrap with a silk scarf and cover that with a bonnet. Stays on all night and in the morning I just add a little water to the edges to smooth it down and either wear a bun or a braid out pony to work!

satin bonnet... I never used to wrap my hair after I started roller setting back in the day. I would put the bonnet on and call it a day. But my hair was SL.

Where did you get your pillowcase from?

Right now i just got my retouch so i am wearing my hair wrap with a silk scarf. Last year i was a really bad girl because i would just take down my bun and sleep with my hair all over the place. I went to sleep with the silk pillowcase and woke up with the cotton pillowcase or either no pillow.:nono: I sleep with all four pillows (2 silk & 2 cotton).

:lachen: that's why I only have two now..before i'd have one for my head and the rest wound up in random places..under my arms, in between legs, hanging off the bed

It varies. I've been pin-curling as of late. I've also slept in rollers as well. Rarely do I nothing to my hair. No matter what I do, I use a "wrap cap" around my hairline and nape. I cover with a silk or satin scarf. I also have 4 pillows on my bed - 2 with satin cases and 2 with cotton.

Prior to LHCF, I didn't really care. I knew better, but just couldn't bring myself to do better. Sad, ain't it?

What kind of rollers do use? Every time I read a post about someone sleeping in rollers my mind automatically thinks about the big hard plastic rollers.

Being natural, my hair has always been plaited before I went to bed. When I'm wearing twists or braids, bedtime involves just putting on a plastic cap over my head without doing much else. I might style my hair in the way I want to wear it tomorrow before putting on the cap but otherwise, there's nothing to it.

When I was relaxed, I'd wrap my hair. I didn't find it time consuming coz I usually started to do it while watching TV and then would just run to the mirror to make sure it looks fine before tying the scarf. My hair was less than a shoulder bob-length, and there were times I'd do a cross wrap and pin the ends under so it'd look like a really short cut.

If that's the style I'd been wearing, bedtime was a breeze: Just tie a scarf and hit the sack. Morning was a breeze too: Take the scarf off and head out the door. LOVED IT!

I usually use the big hard plastic rollers (:lachen:). I've learned to sleep on my stomach with my arms under the pillow. I have the extra large satin rollers also.

My *** is so lazy usually I'll just keep in in whatever style it was in during the day. I've slept with it in a bun, pony tail, "out" whatever:spank:. I don't even know where my satin bonnet is right now. I do try to wrap it when it's straight though.

Just regular put a scarf on it. I have this cool scarf that's like a long sock with a tie on it. I sleep with the hair "down" and it allows me to keep what little curl i havve for a few days. After that, it's scarf and satin pillow case (both because I sleep wild and the scarf comes off!)

i have 4 ways of wearing my hair at night.

1. the one i use the most-
i twirl my hair around like i'm going to put in in a bun then i put on my pretty wrap and go nite nite

2. the one i use a lot in the summer-
i use a cloth scrunchie and put my curls into a pineapple and then put on a silk bonnet so preserve my curls for the next day

3. the one i use when i flat iron-
cross wrap my hair and use a du-rag to tie down my hair

before all 3 i moisturize...

4. the one i try to do the least-
throw my hair into a doodoo bun and go to sleep on my cotton pillow case and not think about my hair at all. this method usually doesnt have any moisturizing going on. when it does, its drunk moisturizing to i dont quite do the job right lol. needless to say, i usually do this after a nite out

When I am in box braids I just moisturize, seal, and use a plastic cap then a satin bonnet on top of that.

After I relax I pin curl and a satin bonnet or my pretty wrap

Recently I have been do flat twists (almost 4 mos post) so I just use my satin bonnet

I do a modified baggy. I moisturize and put my hair in a loose ponytail. Then seal my ends wrap that in a corner of a plastic bag then wrap with my scarf.

Bonnets tore my edges up and this method works pretty well for me and has absolutely saved my ends.

Pigtails + silk scarf to get the edges down + cover with satin bonnet. Usually one of the three disappears in the night. :D

Hair is moisturized and crosswrapped, covered with silk scarf and a bonnet.

If my set comes out great, I'll pin curl, silk scarf and bonnet.

Like someone said I have to have two layers of protection from the pillow...it's not a game!

:lachen: that's crazy. I know i'd have some issues with those rollers because I always sleep on my sides.

it sure isn't! I actually have 3. :lachen: First, a silk scarf, then a cotton scarf, then the bonnet. I feel like having just the silk and the bonnet would make the bonnet come off so I make sure I have that cotton in between so everything doesn't slide around.

I put in a pony and wrap it in a bun. I sleep with either a silk scarf or satin bonnet. I also sleep on silk pillow cases.

Usually two pigtails and a scarf or a braided/twisted bun and my scarf around the edges. I have a satin pillow case also so if my hair is in a bun and the scarf isn't covering it it's not a big deal because it's still protected

The only thing that works for me are satin pillowcases because scarves come off, bonnets kill your edges (you can hear hair snapping off in your sleep), and going bare headed is just crazy. You can stock up on satin pillowcases on ebay or Overstock for less than $10 for a pair. Here is a link to some pillowcases on ebay for under $8.
