I was just on SouthernTease's site reading about how bad shapoo is. If you don't shampoo, do you condition your hair only? How do you get your scalp/hair clean?

I only co wash. I use a cleansing tea tree conditioner. If I feel that I need a deeper clean I will do a brown sugar scrub to exfoliate the scalp. Other than that my hair and scalp is much happier now that I no poo!!!

How do you do the brown sugar scrub? Just mix with water and scrub?

How is the ginger bar??? What is your hair type? Are you relaxed or natchal? Does the bar give you a waxy feeling afterwards?
I think its awesome. Gives me a good clean. I threw the wrapper away but the ingredients were Ginger, ACV, rosemary, glycerin, and some other jazz. I'm natural. I was surprised that is lathers as well as it does without having any chemical/detergent. No wax whatsoever. I do think a good moisturizer is needed afterwards. I think its because of the vinegar. I am a 4a and use it once a week. I co wash during the week

Okay... the reason why I ask is I get dry scalp. It's not dandruff though. I can't even explain it. It's mostly around my hairline in the front. I'm thinking of something I can try to stop the dryness. I can actually take a small tooth comb and put it up under the flake and they are big, dry flakes. They are not yellow or moist and they don't stink- like I heard dandruff is (I could be wrong about that description of dandruff).

I use a mixture of brown sugar, honey, aloe vera gel and castor oil on wet hair while in the shower and vigorously massage the scalp. I follow that up with a co-wash & dc

Thanks for the info! I am using the Oyin Grand Poo Bar and i'm on the fence about it. I think it is causing me some shedding but i need to experiment a little more. Plus the waxy feeling afterwards on some parts of the hair.

hmm... i'm going to have to try this. never have not used Shampoo. I do notice it makes my hair tangled until i condition it. you learn something everyday.

Shampoo is not "bad", just unnecessary for some. I used to use it and it did not dry out/strip my hair (Motions). But my take on it is, if conditioner can clean and condition at the same time, why not just use that and save the extra money.

Anyway, I use conditioner to dc for like 30 minutes, then use it to "wash" the Ayurveda stuff out my hair and detangle. I use baking soda to clarify once a month. Just mix the baking soda with some water or your conditioner, and let it sit while in the shower, then I dc.

I don't have dandruff, sorry I can't be much help on that. But I know that tulsi powder can help with that. I also heard some other ladies had success using baking soda to combat dandruff/flakes as well.

I am going to have to try this one soon, already got the ingredients here. Otherwise I use baking soda mixed with condish and that does it for me, but hey can't help to have more than one method to clean right? LOL Good for me! LOL Thanks for the tip!

In all honesty, I've graduated to DC'ing only.... I've added in the 'washing' with Ayurvedic herbs recently, and it's been really nice - but, I don't REALLY do anything to conciously clean my hair/scalp. '

Oddly enough, my hair is the cleanest it's ever been.
