Is it true that if a lye relaxer is even slightly overlapped it can brake off the hair shaft completey

? I'm switching to home relaxing and I also may switch to lye. Any relaxer-at-home girls use lye relaxers? Any had mishaves with it?

TIA...

From all that I have learned, Lye relaxers are the best and it's the NO-Lye relaxers that dry and break the hair. I have been relaxed with a Lye relaxer for more than 2 years now and I have absolutely no complaints.

I have mistakingly overlapped a little before with no breakage. You just need to be very careful. Just don't comb the relaxer purposely over the already relaxed ends. You may want to use some sort of protectant on the previously relaxed hair. I use Creme of Nature Scalp protector(can use it one hair too). This may give you some peace of mind.
Make sure to follow up with a good conditioning treatment. I use Nexxus Keraphix, it is a reconstructing protein treatment.. There are others though. I also follow up with a moisturizing shampoo.
