How many people wear phonyponies here? I just want to know how they are put on, how long do they last and what style you wear. I want to get the jerry curl afro pony (which looks EXACTLY like how I wore my hair today). I heard someone does the "baggie technique" and puts a phony pony over it for day wear. Is it a good protective style? I'm a natural and I'm just looking for a simple quick style for college this fall. Is this really worth buying?

Hi Bellydancer,
I wear phonytails. If you click on Adrienne's name, you will find the link to her website where she has a series of photos illustrating how the baggie trick plus phonytail works. It works wonderfully for me as a protective style and is a quick and easy way to get my hair in a presentable style. My phonytails have combs and a drawstring to help secure them onto my own hair. I found Adrienne's advice to cut one of the combs out helpful in eliminating the sore scalp I used to experience with two combs. I've bought phonytails at a number of different suppliers, both online and bricks-and-mortar. I think they're worth it. I think Sally's Beauty Supply (at least out here) for $9.99. My phonytails last depending on how much goop I put in my hair. Some folks wash theirs and I guess that extends the life of the phonytails.

Hope this helps.

Sally's has em? oh that's good. I hate ordering off the internet. I'll go check that out and see. Thanks for all the information.

You're welcome.

I only wear the drawstring phonyponies and I them a lot.
I buy my phonyponies from different bss because I like to
exam the length for my self to see if it fall I hate short ones.I also cut the comb out.

I do not use gel on my hair because it make it flake up
and makes my dandruff worse.

I think it's worth it to buy one.

Since the afro jerry looks just like my real hair no one would know the difference

(unless they asked because I wouldn't lie
