Anyone near or met their hair goal but having trouble keeping their hair? I'm experiencing a lot of shedding or my hair gets caught on stuff. How can I keep it strong and healthy?

I don't have problems keeping it but I do have problems with it getting caught on stuff and that's annoying. I still wear protective styles alot. I'm wearing my hair down alot more but I'm still doing protective styles.

Lorraine, do you take MSM? This has made a significant difference in my shedding.

I don't but only because I thought it caused your face to break out. Do you take it? If so, which brand do you use?

Great progress Lorraine ! :D I'm getting close to my goal and experiencing alot of shedding lately also, I have started moisturizing more and leaving it in a bun, decreasing manipulation to very minimum.

Same here I was hoping to have a look at your album too...

I have the same problem. I plan to grow my hair about 2 inches beyond my goal and then cut it for appeareance sake so the ends don't look unhealthy/

Oh yes i'm in the same boat, especially with it getting caught in things.like i was ______ < that close to getting it caught in my zip i thanked god that i didn't! the most annoying thing is people touching it, coming up to me and pullin my hair it gets me MADDDD!!! so i'm literally forced to have buns. juss keep it up Lorraine and to stop shedding maybe u need a supplement such as iron, or one of the B's. they are known to cut shedding down significantly.Biotin stopped mine to almost half. hope that helps!

I've been experiencing a lot of shedding lately too. Then I remembered that I tend to shed a lot of hair every fall. Could this be the case for you too Lorrainne?

When my hair was mid back, I had a really good stylist that I trusted to take care of it (I got it done weekly) and the longer my hair got, I noticed the same thing. I wore it straight and during the course of a day, I would see really long strands of my hair everywhere - in my car, on my desk, etc. She said that it was either one or two things: (1) with it being that long, it's naturally going to get caught in things and snag on things, unless you wear it up, or (2) medication or deficiency in diet. At that particular time, in my case, it was just the length because my diet was fine and everything else was o.k.

There was a particular time when I was taking antibiotics though and I got really scared because unbeknownst:lol: (o.k. I know I just made that word up!) to me, it would make your really dry, brittle and make it shed. When I told her how much hair I was seeing in my comb daily (I usually wouldn't see any), she started going down the checklist and when I said "oh I am taking some antibiotics" she realized that was the culprit. She did more deep conditioning and some protein treatments and extra moisturizing and it cut down on the shedding a lot. Then again as one poster said, it may be the change of the seasons.
