when i started on this board, my hair was dry, got ripped out from routine combings/brushing when it was wet, above the middle of my back, brittle, split ends going all the way up the root- it wasnt ever growing, the hairline was thin from many years of pulling those too tight ponytails and now that I look back ive come a long way and its only been about maybe 6-9 months since ive really started to take my hair seriously..

so i was sitting here thinking..now that im transitioning, im noticing the beautiful coils at the roots, the length is incomparable to anything ive experienced before..now my longest piece is mid back, the front of my hair is catching up to the rest of the hair, hair that didnt ever grow before is now growing so long, the hairline is growing in nice and thick anddd at this rate i should be at my goal by 2007. Ive even noticed while walking that my hair has more shake and bounce than ever before because its retaining length.

im so excited..now that ive really made attempts to take care of my hair and im much more conscious of what I put into it, my hair has become everything ive ever dreamed. Of course my dream length is almost to my waist but i wanna know how many other girls are excited? how many others are noticing the changes and the differences? Sighhh only a year more and i'll be at my goal!

sorry to post such a meaningless thread..but i wanted to share my feelings and wanted to see if any other women are reaching the goals that theyve always dreamed!

i want all of my hair at waistlength, bangs included, so i have a 5 year wait. this i am definitely not excited about. ask me again in 3 years time.

Girl I feel exactly the same way. I never grew hair past my neck now its a little past shoulder length in the back and toughing my shoulder on the sides. My edges also have filled back in ( I think because of my relaxer stretches). I also have learned so much about keeping my hair moisturised that my family and coworkers have noticed the difference. I'm not saying that I had a low self esteem, but I feel so much more confident since my hair has starting looking so healthy and long. I never knew how much a little tlc could help your hair yet alone boost your self esteem.

hahaha girll im so desperate i'll take right above waistlength! hehehe..i wanted to get bangs..i think they look so beautiful..but im thinking on my curly hair they probably wouldnt look good at all and they are a lot of maintenence! hahaha 5 years is reasonable..everytime i think a year is too long by the time i know it its over..im thinking 5 years will be a breeze for you! when you start noticing the beautiful changes your hair and mindset is going through, even before you reach waist length, youll be so satisfied with everything im sure! and your hair is beautiful already. definitely something to be proud of!

I thought I was not making any progress at all until I took pictures this weekend. Even hubby made a comment;). My hair has always grown well but I always had a problem retaining length. Cant wait to meet my ultimate goal which is BSL:D .

yeahhh ive been there! for years i felt like my hair never grew- at all! thats major acheivement andd tell me when you finally hit your first goal- doesnt it feel amazing? yess my edges are filling in too..i got a lot of forehead to cover hahaha but its getting there..and the moisture!! ive realized that my hair needs more moisture than ever and I wasnt giving it enough moisture but moreover the RIGHT KIND of moisture!

im definitely feeling more confident. something so very mysterious about longer hair (by your own standards) that feels so sexy and so beautiful.. oh yea..just a little bit of care and you'll feel like a million bucks no matter what goal you have set in front of you..those little steps go a long way to the bigger goal!

im so glad youre excited like me to!!! i was hoping id definitely get replies!

i didnt think i was making progress until the other day i was out with my boyfriend..i noticed that my hair fell a little bit longer than mid shoulder when i tossed it over my shoulder and there wasnt as much shrinkage! i had recently cut the ends a bit to get rid of splits so it was smooth and i just got off the mtg a few days before and softened up my hair with a whole lotta cholesterol thrown on my head for a few hours..when i washed out, the texture was so soft and smooth i was too happy..

anddd the shake test? when i shook my hair it felt longer and blew more in the breeze..i felt so much more confident (even tho i feel like ive been gaining weight!)

ive had a problem with growth and retaining length because i didnt know how to take care of my hair...i cant wait to meet my goal which is even lower back (not even waist length any more, ive taken some time to think about it and although that would be nice i'll set my sights on that when i reach lower back evenly..lower back is my ultimate goal unstretched!)

My first goal will be armpit in December. I get excited just thinking about it. I am doing everything in my might to protect my ends between now and then!

My second goal will be brastrap. According to Ms. Kibby's comparison pics, if my hair grows as fast as hers, I should be there by May -- My Birthday!! Yall know I am going to celebrating!!!

Suprisingly no...lol. I am about 1" from my waist and it's not as exciting as I anticipated and I'm even thinking of cutting a couple inches off..lol. I do love that I figured out how to keep it softer and how to maintain it OUTSIDE of braids and interlocks so I'm happy about that :)

I have not reached any of my goals yet:p which is okay I like the way my hair looks and feels right now ( which is wonderful) and I am excited about the prospects. I may not have reached my goals yet but, I know they are goals that can be reached. So, just the prospect that one day I'm going to be shoulder length, armpit lenght bra strap etc. makes me all excited:clapping: because I know its not just a dream its a reality because so many ladies on this board have accomplished the same thing.!

I'm feeling excited :yep: I'm on a mission, thinking positively, and am working to have my regimen perfected by the start of 2006. I anticipate great things :)

I'm excited to reach my goal of waist length. I'm not too far off from it.

I often wonder though once I get there will there be some kind of big letdown? Like when you anticipate and plan for something so long, then you finally do it. It's like, "Ok, now what?"

i'm more excited about being 4" from waist then at getting to waist itself... i might grow it to waist and see how i can handle it, if not then i'll cut it to 27" instead of 30"
