No, that's not a shower filter. Try these: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...ilter&langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

I have this one from Lowe's: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=123951-51915-SL-CM&lpage=none

I read about filters on LHCF and using them has made a difference in my hair. I still need to buy a water softener, though.

To be more specific about the filter, he said it was a basic charcoal filter that you can buy from any hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes.

It was small like the size of a small can of Vienna Sausage. It was white . He showed screwing the top off your shower head and inserting the filter just placing it inside nothing hard at all and then screwing the top back on.

He said that the chlorine in water dries our hair out and he has one in all his shower heads.

He also said that people wash their hair way too much and don't give the natural oils a chance to get to our hair.

:look: How often is too often? What will the filter and water softner do to our hair?

No particular brand just a generic charcoal filter. One good point made on the show is that hair health reflects overall health and vitality. A young lady who was losing excessive amounts of hair ended up having a hormone imbalance and possible pituitary adenoma.

I was wondering something similar just yesterday!
It SEEMS as though my face cleared up ever since I've been taking better care of my hair (ie washing more frequently). Once when I was a little girl I had an asthma attack and a woman mentioned to my mother that I should get in the shower and wash my hair and body to remove ...[something I can't remember] lol

OR, maybe I'm just taking better care of my overall self?

did any of you ladies purchase the charcoal filters? If so, what difference have you seen in your hair and skin from using them? Also, where did you purchase them from?

I may have a dump question but isnt a water filter a water softner? It seems like u guys are talking like its two different things? If so then what is the difference? I think I have hard water and need to know which would be better..

I think that water softener is sometype of machine that you add liquid to to treat the water. not totally sure though.

They are kinda the same, and then kinda different.

A water filter removes many types of impurities, usually by particle size more than type of impurity (think Brita pitcher or shower head filter)

A water softener removes certain hardening compounds, such as Calcium and Magnesium. A water softener usually removes these compunds using their chemical charges (think softener unit in the basement of a home)

But I'm sure some home water systems do both, but not a shower head filter.

So filtered water can be softened water, but softened water isnt necessarily filtered water.

Hope this helps!

I've been using a shower filter for about two months. My hair and skin use to be dry, moisturizing took care of some of the hair dryness, but my skin was still dry and ashy no matter how often I lotion. Now since the filter, no more dryness of my hair or skin. It's great! And it worked fast!
