Hi All

I have very dry itchy flaky scalp. I have been doing research and from what I have read, it appears that I have seborrheic dermatitis. My mother had it and now I do. I have decided to treat it with Selsun Blue (not yet purchased) and my own combination of nystatin cream and hydrocortisone cream. BUT I really don't want to use Selsun blue, because I have very dry natural hair. I wanted to know if you ladies thought that I could get away with doing a mixture of ACV and Olive Oil (small amount) instead of the Selsun Blue shampoo??

if possible...please email me your response: [email protected]

i'd recommend going to a dermatologist. i had the same problem for years, and nothing worked, it only got worse. i ended up seeing a dermatologist and i had to use ketoconazole shampoo and a topical steroid. i wouldnt recommend using nystatin or hydrocortisone cream on your scalp. although nystatin is a antifungal, it's not for the same type of fungus that usually causes dermatitis. and hydrocortisone can be too strong for the scalp. however, i've noticed that after i stopped relaxing and washing more often, my scalp is 100% better. hth my recommendation is to make an appointment with a dermatologist.

I was given the same prescription as Glamorous Chic. I was warned not to use wigs or fake hair while treating this. I've never used either but Doc issued the warning anyway.
