Avacado and my hair

Well, thought I'd share my little hair adventure with you guys from this weekend. I bought a ripe avacado from this store and blended it with my jojoba oil. Mind you...last time I used avacado in my hair I looked like someone had poured guacamole over my head because I mashed it up with a fork and it was super chunky. Moving on..... I clarifyed with some cheap Suave shampoo and put an Adore hair color (siennna brown) on. I thought if I clarifyed the dye had a better chance to stain my hair because the cuticle wasn't coated. Anywhoo..after I rinsed I put the avacodo in and sat under the dryer for about an hour. I rinsed and then let some Motions sit in my hair for another 5 min or so. The results were really good. My hair felt like I had a serious protein treatment without the dryness. My hair felt really heavy for lack of better words. It was super soft and my mom commented that I had a lot of shine. This was a way better experience than last time when I thought I'd be washing avacado chunks out my head forever. I plan to do another treatment this weekend because I'm trying to get my hair in shape before I do my touchup in 3 weeks. Hope this can help somebody out there looking to pamper their hair due to unexplained bouts of hair boredom.

I started using as my leave in:
Aveda Elixir, Avocado Oil, and a little olive oil, and I like the results a lot. It doesn't do anything for poofiness, but I feel that my hair looks and feels moisturized. The combo is just a little greasier than my ideal combo though - maybe I should just omit the olive oil completely and lower the amount of avocado oil to see if I have the same results.

I am glad you had great results with the avocado....I know it's excellent for hair treatment, but I am too lazy to deal with the actual avocado.....I usually just add avocado oil to my deep conditioners, and it works very well....

I have been considering using avocado in my hair. I have read about some recipes on the internet about it's conditioning propeties. I bought a ripe one at the grocery store Sunday, mashed it up in a ziploc yesterday and put it back in the refrigerator. I will use it soon because I've read they go bad quickly. I am not sure if I will use it pre shampoo or post shampoo. I will let you know how it turned out!
