Braids: leaving sensitive areas out?

I want to put in braids in late August. My only concern are my temples. Although my hair grows in braids, the temples have always been a problem in the past. The hair there is delicate and thin and in the past, the weight of the braid (especially when wet) would just pull it out. This is why I switched over to using human hair because it was much lighter. I would look at the braids and see that some hair had been pulled out, but most of it stayed attached. So although I would see progress from the braids, the temples would still be thin and the hair there would always break after growing to a certain lenght. I have seen a lot of progress this year in regards to my temples (yah, temple balm and surge) and don't want a setback.

I was thinking of putting the two areas into plaits and tell the braider that they have to be left out or done in really small microbraids with a tiny amount of hair. Or could I just do small boxbraids/microtwists on my own hair with no extensions? Would this blend in relatively well? I think I remember someone saying they did something similar before??

Don't get that part braided! I always leave part like that out. The edges that I do get braided, I get reetouched avery 2 weeks or so.

I do my own hair. My temples were thin due to blocked follicles, and I think a combo of too tight braiding. Well I got an rx from the derm, and my sides are going back to normal again. I just don't braid in thoes areas, or if I do, they are super small and not tight at all. Go to the derm, and see if they can give you something topical to help you w/ that

Yes, I think it's a great idea to leave out those delicate areas. Those areas will thank you for it. Good luck!

ITA, I wouldn't braid them either. One option I use is I'll put the Front in Flat Twists because my edges are definitely a trouble spot w/out a lot of TLC.
