I'm a newbie to this website. I'm going hair product shopping this weekend. What items should I buy on my quest for bsl hair? Also, if you have any pointers on how to care of rmy hair, I'm all ears.

Hi and. One of my staples is Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I use it to seal in moisture on my hair strands. Also, when I press my 4a hair, I mix it with Aveda Anti-humectant pomade and that combo leaves my hair light, silky and full of body.

I'll co-sign for that Mango Butter. And Oyin Handmade whipped creams work great, too!
pinkskates...that aveda...is it water based? I always have a problem with water based products applied before a press.
Do you have any pics of your hair when it is not straightened and does it get your hair stick straight or a puffy straight? And tell me more about that Aveda.
No, the Aveda anti-humectant pomade (in a white jar) is more like a grease. It's loaded with rice bran and other aveda secret ingredients.
It does a great job of fighting off humidity. My pressed hair normally last 2 weeks plus in normal weather. I don't use any water based products when I press my hair. The pomade gets my hair stick straight if I want it to; depending on how many times I run the hot comb thru my hair. In my hair fotki album, there is a picture of me wearing my natural hair in a twistout 'doo. And right now, I'm wearing my natural hair in 2 strand twists.
