I did a search. Do we have a thread like this already? If so, please direct me. If not, I would like information like this ...

(this is about Murumuru & cupuacu)
"They are one of the best butter around the world. I use this combo as my hair butter and I am in love.
I think they are lighter, non greasy than shea, that's what I prefer them.

I like cupuacu the most, it has that ice cream vanilla sicle scent,Contains phytoserols. Promotes smoothness and softness to dry hair. Fosters long lasting moisturization and high water absorption

Murumuru butter
creates a permeable barrier that prevents moisture loss whilst keeping your skin moist and your tresses hydrated and pliable"

I want to learn about every butter there is.

hmm i've never heard of this butter, but my hair usually loves them especially in the winter. Where did you find these?

Yeah I have heard of this butter and the murumuru is hard to find, I have been wanting to try that butter, because she butter & aloe butter does nothing but make my hair hard, no matter how small I use!! I have heard it is a wonderful butter!!

I have no idea where she got them from. I wish I could get a huge stash of butter samples.

oh this was something you found, I thought you were saying that about the butters :spinning:

This is a good idea to have one thread with all the info

FNWL gives some info on their site, but to me its not always the greatest or fullest information in their description

Sorry for the mix up.
We have a vitamin glossary, but I want a butter glossary. I used to use homemade whipped shea butter when I was transitioning and loved it. I want to get back to butters and bunning.

I have never used Murumuru butter but I have used Tucuma butter...which is said to be similar. Where I used to live I could get it from the local market for a great price. Not anymore though :( Anyway it was a staple of mine for a long time..loved it. It has a somewhat gritty texture while solid..but the little granules melt after rubbing them in your hand. It has a scent but not overwhelming..and it moisturized my hair very well.

more info.:
Natural Tucuma butter comes straight from our source in Brazil. It has very similar properties to Murumuru butter at a fraction of the cost. Its an excellent emollient and has very high lauric, miristic and oleic acid content.
and another
Tucuma butter is cold-pressed from the seeds of the tucuma palm, which grows in Brazil. It is high in lauric, myristic and oleic acids and vitamin A. Tucuma butter is emollient, softening, antioxidant and protective.

those butters are the bomb!!! pricey but worth every penny. anita grant uses them in her products, which i have in my hair right now WHICH feels oh so luscious might i add!

Thank you much. I also read that the two were similar.

I just got hipped to murumuru butter, that stuff is nice!!

Omg my hair loves some cupuacu butter!!!! I started using it when i found out it was the "ceramide" ingredient in the Kan Kechoman(sp) Karite Butter. After tons of research i found out that it is a natural ceramide, and had restorative and moisturizing properties... It definitely left my flatironed hair so moist and silky:lick:
