i know its a dumb question but i did a search and did not find what are the benifits of air drying i mean for the long haul. i air dried for the first time yesterday and i must say that it was a struggle to get my hair to lay down flat but it seems as if my hair got stronger i plan to air dry more but what are the benifits does it make your hair different in the long run please help thanks!

Number 1 benefit: Less heat.

Try airdrying with a scarf - after applying your leave in, put your hair up in a ponytail and tie a scarf like you would do if you were going to sleep. After 30/45 minutes, take hair down from ponytail and take off scarf until your hair is at least 90% dry.

My hair is usually straight after this.

OMG thanks because i think i would have blew my first "no heat challenge" if i had to do what i did to get it to lay down twice a week but does it help your hair retain moister better or does it thicken the strands

Boy, I'm glad someone cleared the whole air dry thing up! I have problems with it too--my fine hair tangles so much I end up with more breakage than if I were just to use a low heat blowdryer.

Airdrying is healthier for your hair than using heat. I don't think I've ever heard of someone gaining thickness from it ;)
