I bit the bullet and purchased the following:

Alterna Caviar CC Cream
Alterna Shampoo/Conditioner (Trial size)
AG Ultra Moisture Shampoo/Conditioner

I was specifically looking for a more hydrating shampoo. I want to see if the shampoo/conditioner combos will provide lasting moisture along with my leave-in products.

Nice purchases, @keranikki! I hope they're moisturizing! I'll be excited to hear your reviews. :)

Unfortunately, I’m going to have to return the products I purchased, for they either contain coconut oil or its derivatives. My hair hates coconut oil and I just learned that coconut oil derivatives act in the same manner as the oil.

To test this theory, I researched coconut oil/derivative free shampoos and came upon the brand Verb. I headed to TJ Maxx and picked up Verb Glossy Shampoo and Conditioner. I used both of these products yesterday and I’m thoroughly impressed. I can’t stop touching my hair.

I found the shampoo this past Tuesday and used it that evening. My hair felt so soft and my ends didn’t feel dry after rinsing. Once I used my cholesterol conditioner, my hair felt like butter. I was so gagged that I went back and purchased the conditioner the next day. Using both products really has my hair feeling hydrated. There was no need for me to use a DC.

I would like to thank @Yvette 2.0 for starting this thread and @Lylddlebit for posting her product recommendations. I was able to find the culprit to my retention stagnation and a solution. :yahoo: :bounceline::bouncy::kiss::rose:

Wowwwwwww!

That is awesome! I'm so exited with you!

For me there's not much difference between salon quality and high end hair product lines appart from some of the natural hair care lines. You usually find salons endorsing high end lines, although this could vary in the price ranges as some lines are just more expensive than others. Nowadays, most BSS carry many high end/salon quality/natural hair lines, this makes them easier to get hold of and also makes prices more competitive than they used to be, especially with online sales platforms thrown in the mix.

I don't believe that you have to spend big money for great results, there are many cheaper products that work well, there are some expensive products that make me feel like I'm getting my money's worth when they work they way I want and need them to. My problem is I can't stop thinking that there has got to be products better suited to my hair that I would love.

My ultimate goal would be to find HG products in low, mid and high end price points for the products that I us. I have a LOT of sampling to do to get there, I do enjoy trying new products but, to try and get through more products quickly, save money, and to not end up with large bottles/tubs of products I don't like, I have started shopping trial and travel size products. I will only purchase full size if I love it.
