Can You Dye Synthetic Hair?

I bought my puff in the color 4 but really need a 2. Well I was going to exchange it but they charge a $15 resocking fee plus I have to pay return shipping. I only paid $19.95 for it so I mean I might as well just buy another one at that cost. I was hoping to try dying it first before purchasing a new one, but will commercial hair dye work on synthetic hair? TIA!

loreal preference has nice shades of dark brown
