Coconut oil acting as a... gel?

Wow, I was really impressed with my new use of my coconut oil! I had washed and conditioned my hair and didn't know what to do with my hair afterwards (I tend to forget how to do my hair after it's been in twists for weeks). I was tired, so I left my hair parted down the center (as I did for washing), scooped up some solidified coconut oil as I would have normally done with gel, rubbed it and then smoothed it into my hair, and slicked each side down with my hands, then with my huge boar brush, and secured each side with my pantyhose scrunchies which made two fluffy and curly afro puffs... and that was it. I tied my satin scarf over my hair for the night as the cool evening air slowly dried it. When I woke up the next morning, my hair was slicked down, wavy at the top, and full of sheen

! My hair didn't dry stiff at all, and I could see little pen spring-sized curls all up in my two puffs! Mind you ladies, I didn't even use a comb after washing my hair, or my Denman brush. I just smoothed my hair into two puffs, and it didn't even come out raggety looking in the morning--just simiply be-a-u-tiful. I thought I'd let you ladies know, incase you haven't already tried to use coconut oil for the purpose of slicking down your hair

A day later... my hair is in the same puffs, I just had to spritz a little Infusium 23 to give them life, and add a dab of gel to my hairline. All else is still good

This is what I am doing tonight. I have washed my hair put it into 14 twists with Dabur Vatika, which is a fancy coconut oil with other stuff in it. I hope to get the same results tomorrow. I will up date u then. Glad yours turned out nice!

Thanks tracy

So how did it turn out? Today, I did it again, I conditioned washed, and when I rinsed I already had my hair in the two ponytails. I rubbed in the coconut oil, brushed my hair down with the boar brush again, and put my scarf on. I was going to work so I didn't get to leave the scarf on too long and the oil didn't get to absorb well, but I still had my tiny waves goin'. I think the key is to let the hair dry completely, and the scarf should be satin, IMO.

2morrow, I'll rub a dab of gel on my hairline and spritz the rest of the hair, and that's it

. Low maintenance, I love it!
