Combs and Brushes

These are important items- don't go cheap or rather poor quality. I use the ionic combs available at BSS- cheaper online from ebay (Bionic brand). Wide tooth for wet hair and detangling and a med tooth for more detailed styling. I never use fine tooth.
Smooth edges with no molding seams or rough edges on the teeth of the comb or inbetween the teeth. Ladies here swear by the bone combs also available at BSS.
As far as hair brushes go, I purchased a Bionic boar bristle brush. I know Denam brushes are some of the best in the world and start at $80. I rarely if ever brush my hair. I really see no benifit from it.

Ravensunshine,

I believe you are referring to the Mason Pearson brushes that start at $80. They are highly recommended by stylists. The Denman brushes are good as well and start at $10. I have the paddle brush and it is one of my favorites. It can purchased at Sally's or Trade Secret.

Does anyone use Silicone Combs? I got one the other day, it's a fine tooth comb, pretty durable, seamless, and doesn't rip my hair out. I was thinking of using it for rollersets, even though it isn't as fine as the cheap rollerset combs. Will this work?

Also, I got a bone comb from Walmart for 44 cents--is that the real thing? I'm assuming not...

TIA

LoL funny you mentioned that you bought the bone combs from walmart because I bought 2 from them last week. I was wondering is it the real thing:confused: but I'm guessing not....does anyone know where to get the real genuine real thing that won't rip my hair out??

My favorite brushes are the Denman small paddle brush (the number is eighty-something...can't remember off the top of my head) and my boar bristle brush (Spornette Caesar). I got both at Sally's, although I don't really see the Caesar there anymore these days. I  that brush!

oh, I just looked on the website and see that it was discontinued: http://www.sallybeauty.com/shop/9000/735131
You might still check out the brand though, because the boar bristles they use are really soft :yep:

Hi Miss B- Thanks for the correction- I was having a brain fart moment!! Hahaha!
Yeah, I did not mean the Denman brush, but the Pearson brushes.

This is a great thread!! I am transitioning and think my comb could be better. Although I bought it at Sally's I've been hearing about the Jilbere shower comb. Can I buy that at sally's?
TIA

I have been wishing for the Pearson brushes for years. Maybe one day...

Me too. ::sigh:: I want the large nylon/boar combo. Maybe I will finally give in and treat myself someday soon. If I do, that brush better be fantastic.

I use plastic combs (very wide, medium, and fine) from the BSS. Of course, I check them for rough edges etc. I use a "man's" soft bristle brush or a baby brush for my edges.

I will never brush my hair so that the bristles touch my scalp again. Using a firm bristled plastic brush is what brought me to LHCF.
