Natural newbie here. This is a concept I just do. not. get. I have yet to get beyond 2nd day hair (gracefully) and even my second day hair is a little :ohwell: The big issue I have is midway through day 2 is my hair really starts drying out, no matter what I've used (up until this weekend I was doing the CG method leaving in conditioner only, but I think I've been converted to Queen Helene Royal Curl) my hair starts to dry out on the second day, and ANY attempt to add any water based/wet product puts me on the road to Fro-town. Oil seems to do nothing but create shiny frizz. I'm not familiar with the products that will help with this--HELP!!! :spinning:

I can be seen wearing 5 day old twistouts  They look good too. I just make the twists very small, like 1cm to 1/2 an inch :yep: This worked really well when I sealed with crisco. My hair did not dry out at all. Matter of fact that was the first time anyone ever asked if they could touch my hair. She was a friend so I said ok.

I included my fotki link on your other cg thread of my 8 day hair

I dont refresh my curls with water alone often if at all that will cause frizz you may want to make a liquid spray gel for yourself so you can touch up during the day

The key to getting second day hair etc is all to do with the prep and application you do on the first day

Embyra - No frickin' way! 8 days? My hair would look like Jerry Curl when Robert Townsend took his activator! I've tried refreshing with water plus conditioner, water plus gel, just water, water plus conditioner and gel, but I think the addition of water just kills it.

If i want 4 day hair.....i use gel:yep: On day 1 i let the gel dry...it may be a bit crunchy....on day 2-4 i simply spray my hair with water....shake it out...and then i'll add my gel on places that seem out of line. By day 4 my hair is filled with volume...i either rock it or i put my hair in a curly puff or a curly messy bun.

Been a natural for 15 years - still rarely get 2nd day hair. Never had 3 day hair. My curls smoosh and frizz no matter what technique I use.

I don't feel so bad now Thanks! :hugs:

I'll keep trying, but I think in 15 years, you can definitely say the above is true! LOL I see a couple of people mention gel on here. My hair and gel don't like each other much. And I can't tolerate crunch long term, I like to have it, but I always scrunch it out on day 1. Maybe that's the issue. My hair was a little crunchy when I left DevaChan, but I didn't touch it for fear of "ruining the magic" LOL. It softened up over the next two days, but I'm a lot less careful with my own efforts. And...I really don't like the crunch. So maybe I'm destined to a life of frequent wash and go's :yep:

I was only able to make it to 3rd day hair as a natural....even if I could stretch it for a week i wouldnt. That's asking for tangles, a weeks worth of shedding, and SSK's...at least for my hair

loool mmmhmm you need to use something that is going to tame/set the curl people with curly hair regardless of the hair curl pattern need some sort of product suitable for THEIR hair to smooth the cuticle and hold the curl SmilingElephant told me about youruber waterlilly she also has great tips on following the cg routine :yep:
