Curlformers on shorter hair.. Have you tried it?

I was thinking of purchasing some curlformers because I love the curly look on me and I hear that they work wonders for 4a/4b hair and give somewhat of a smoother look, without the heat. I am wondering if anyone has tried them on hair that is 5-7 inches and gotten good results? If you can post a link to your fotki or a few pics, that would be appreciated.

my hair is more than 5 inches but its still not long, more like between 7-9 inches. You can check my fotki for pics because the size is too big for me to add in the post.
