DIY--How to Touch-up sew in

Hi, Ladies! I want to try to do my own sew-in and I have read where many ladies go bach to their stylists, to have the weave redone. What does that process entail?
I'm clueless about the whole weave process so, tell it to me like I'm 5

Honestly, I am not sure what she does for me exactly, but she calls in tightening. I guess she checks for loose thread and reinforce them as needed. I have had the small parts of a track loosen totally from the cornrow and she will re-sew it for me. After it is all done, the weave does feel better.
