Do men hit on you more with long hair?

I know this is a corny question, but out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone has gone from short to long hair and found that men were suddenly more interested?

Even better, were there men who wouldn't give you the time of day until you grew your hair out? Did you do the right thing and turn your back on them sending your long hair flying in their faces?

i honestly dont notice much of a difference...but i think more men hit on me when my hair was cut way short. But i may be wrong. I think this because the short haircut brought out my eyes more and guys would comment on them. -- jainygirl

People definitely hit on me more when my hair was ultra short. But then - I was YOUNGER too...

I haven't noticed much difference, it's the same thing if my hair is long, short, in braids or cornrows.

They are just too hungry, well, the ones in England anyway

I got more attention when I wore my hair down after getting it pressed last month. I was surprised to see more white, asian, and hispanic guys doing double-takes. For a while, I was wondering if I had a sign on my back or on my forehead or something.

Now that my hair is up in a bun again, things are (thankfully) back to normal.

Im not sure, I know I get more attention than when my hair was shorter, but Im also 50 lbs lighter so Im sure that makes a difference! lol...

speaking of attention from men, sometimes I feel I get more attention from strangers than my own man and that irks me!!hehehe...

I got so much attention when my hair was relaxed and I wore my long, curly phonytail that I finally just stopped wearing the darn thing during the day. It was weird. The same men that were ignoring me the day before were now running after me like fools.

But I still wore it to clubs/bars because it guaranteed I got a lot of free drinks.

I definitely get more attention with longer hair. Let's face it, long hair is a symbol of femininity. I got attention when my hair was shorter, but it's just more now. Especially from black men. If they happen to find out that my hair is all mine, whoa nelly!

Well, this may be a little different but...

Since my hair is almost ALWAYS in a bun or some protective style, ...don't get me wrong, I get plenty of attention now...but I notice that I get tons more looks when I wear my hair down....every once in a blue moon....but I think the majority of men love a woman with long hair.

They get a little more flirty, you know:

I get more attention when my hair is shorter or in braids. Men seem to be intimidated by long (real) hair. If I have braid (cornrows, micros etc.) I get attention all day, but my real hair...they look---they just don't approach, like they feel i'm out of their league or something. I have more white men approaching me than anything.

Carlie,

I know exactly what you mean. I am a bun queen. So, it's not often that I wear my hair down, but when I do, I have to

the men. I try to avoid wearing it down at work because it creates too much stuff. The gentlemen that I may see once during a work day, I'd end up seeing a few times during a work day if I wear my hair down. The nerve of those fools.

When I was natural, I got more attention from men of other races besides Black. Seems I get more attention from Black men when I have either long straight (relaxed), extensions, or a short cropped relaxed cut. I'm going back natural again because I love being the only one in a group with different hair. Plus it's healthier for me. I'll keep you all posted, as I'm transitioning right now.

lol Carlie, I know what u mean.

I get my share although my hair is usually in a granny bun or tucked under pony. then when its down and looking nice Ill get more of the double takes and yells and get followed a lot...tehehe
sekret.gif

Sassy,
I used to wear a pony like that too and for some reason ppl would ask if it was my hair a lot, I guess the color matched my natural highlights...Im like my hair would have to be way down my back if its to my shoulders in a high pony! It was cute though....I like yours too!

Yes men do hit on me more when my hair is down. I actually like it because I never wear my hair out during the entire summer and as soon as the first cool day of fall hits...WHOAH MAMA!!!, double takes from everyone.

I would like to know more about the psychology on this phenomenon. Why should men (black men) be intimidated by long, real hair? Does having long, real hair represent power to them? And why aren't white men intimidated by the same hair? This may have been already discussed in the Off Topic Discussion board but it's an interesting point to perhaps be reintroduced on that board.

Wow! With your hair length, I can see how you'd have to literally fight the men off all day! I can only imagine...

At first it might be cute:

But then it would just get annoying:

...but I have to admit, if my hair was your length...it would probably go to my head...

...I guess I better keep my goal at brastrap...

I know what you mean Sassy. I used to do the same thing. That was why phonyponies were so addictive for me. Where did u get that one by the way? I want one now. lol

I also noticed that I get more attention with my hair down now that it is getting so long. Also, the braidout technique works well for me too.

I got mine from a bss. But I'm pretty sure it's the same one they sell at goldmedal.com. It looks exactly the same. Messy human hair curls on a butterly clip.

Go ahead. The men will be tripping over their tongues.
laugh.gif
What was really strange was that they had to know it wasn't real. They didn't care. Horny devils...

It's hard to say. When my hair was worn in cute shorter styles, I received lots of attention from men. I feel this is because the whole picture looked good and one's attitude plays a role. Now that my hair is growing longer, I still get lots of attention. Even today, I walked home from the store with my hair down (usually it's up when I'm walking outside) and a man started running after me, yelling for me to stop and talk with him.

I feel it's more than the hair, although longer hair (when it looks nice)seems to always turn heads from men of all ages, races and nationalities.
