When I would relax I swore that the relaxer runoff made my hair feel so must smoother and "in place." Based on what I've learned about porous hair and porosity correction I think that the relaxer run-off corrected my porosity issue.

Could this really happen or was I noticing a different phenomenon happening to my hair after the relaxer?

I want to try to find out what was going on so I can try and mimic it with natural hair.

What does a relaxer do to hair's porosity?

It's most likely your neutralizing shampoo. That is usually low in pH which helps your hair cuticles lie flat. You can use a low pH conditioner for the same effect or do an apple cider vineger rinse after your DCs.

Cool! That helps me to understand things. I tried a shampoo that was for color treated hair before because I heard that was supposed to help porosity...but that was not any noticeable difference. The shampoo was Biolage something for color treated hair. I wonder if that and neutralizing shampoo has the same or similar properties.
