Do Y'all know of a way to wash hair "in place"?

The farther I get post relaxer, the more nervouse I get about washing my hair (a.k.a. all the manipulation, combing, tangling). I cringed everytime I ran the comb through my hair last time I washed (last weekend). I don't wanna do that again, ESPECIALLY since I'm on a variation of the "No Comb" challenge. But I do also want to get rid of my build-up.

Anyone know how I can wash or remove buildup with out really taking my hair through all those changes?

I've heard of people washing their hair with a stocking over their head to reduce manipulation and frizzing while wearing braids...maybe that could work on regular loose hair?

I've also heard of people putting their hair in large braids and washing that way.

The large braids/plaits are definitely a great option. I use that method whenever my hair is in a delicate tangle proned state. I learned it from seeing the mom of my ex-friend coming through her natural hair. She lightly dampened the hair, added shampoo, comb through the hair with a large tooth comb and then plaited. She rinsed the hair afterwards and added conditioner (with the plaits still in).

Wow, that sounds really effective. I'm just in a real determined mood lately. I have not been paying attention much at all to my hair. My hair care routine is sooo non-existence right now. So I need to get back in the swing of things. Thanks for the tips!
