Do you know of any natural hair dyes/colorants?

Besides henna.

I'm looking for something that I can use that'll gradually color (redden or darken) my hair over time. Something that's not damaging and that'll just enhance my hair color without drastically changing it. I've done some searches, but all that comes up is sage rinses and coffee rinses... and kool aid :perplexed

I'm not into the kool aid thing, but has anyone tried coffee or sage, or anything else?

Sage and coffee didn't work for me, neither did rosemary or any other type of tea for that matter. I hear black walnut powder is good, but I haven't tried it. I heard amla doesn't color hair unless it is mixed with henna.

I knew a girl in high school who would dye her hair with Kool-aid. I've heard of beetroot but I have no clue where to get or use it.

Kool aid worked for a friend of mine too. Beetroot powder can be found here; just scroll down: http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkherb/b.html .

Now that I have been thinking, what about annatto? Don't people use it for a colorant in cosmetics and such? And people add paprika to their henna mix to make their hair redder, maybe you can figure out other ways to use it.
