Does anyone just texturize their hair?

I know a lot of the women on this board texlax, but I was wondering if anyone just texturizes their hair for manageability? I like my coils, but my hair is. . .a challenge at times. I don't want to make it curly or wavy, but just make it easier to work with.

I had no idea there was a difference between texlax and texturizing. I though they were the same thing :perplexed

Maybe you can try heat training your hair? I know that's what a lot of naturals are doing help make their hair more manageable for them but, still avoid chemicals.

That's what I do. I get mistaken for being natural all the time. I apply a mild relaxer on my new growth and IMMEDIATELY wash it out. I don't let it sit at all... is that what you mean? I just want my curl pattern to loosen because I like the "s" curl it creates. I've been doing this for over a year now... and today I decided I would just go natural. I'm close to the anyways--even my stylist refers to my hair as "natural." And even SHE knows better.

Yes. It still looks like your natural texture, but easier to comb through.

yeah i do.
But i put protein conditioner & oil in my mild relaxer. I leave it on for a total of 13-18min(including APPLYING & smoothing). I still have a curl pattern..no where near straight:grin:
I just did a touch-up/corrective yesterday, because i wanted a looser curl pattern & my hair looked like it kind of reverted back..as if i never relaxed it:perplexed

The first time i did a texlax on VIRGIN hair i left it on for a total of 12mins but no smoothing. So i would recommended NO smoothing if you want to slightly loosen your curls. But i did not like the results because as i said it looked like their was no chemical processing.

Thanks! I was thinking if added conditioner or oil to it and then only slapped it on for a short amount of time what would happen? I have pretty resistant hair, so I'm thinking it wouldn't straighten it or even make it look 3c. Decisions decisions. . .
