My SO just left my house to go home and when he got home he text me saying "OMG my sister did a BC" lol.
The other day I asked if I could straighten his hair for fun and he said "I ain't getting heat damage on my TWA"lol.
It's nice to know he's actually listening when I'm going on about hair

My SO doesn't know much about black hair. I told him about relaxers once and he looked at me like I had lost my mind. lol He thinks it's cute that I call my hair kinky so he calls it that now.
You're story was really cute. Talking 'bout his TWA, too cute.

My husband knew NOTHING about hair 6 months ago....and I mean NOTHING.

These days, between my BC, our 3 daughters' customized regimens, the school of LHCF, and Chris Rock's "Good Hair", he's a virtual "Andre Walker" in training lol.

Yepp.
He can tell if someone is wearing a weave or extensions. He diagnoses dryness, ect., saying the he wants to give some ladies advice, but he just keeps his mouth shut.
It's hilarious...

He doesn't know much about hair but he's learning. After watching good hair he was more supportive and understanding about why I was going natural and horrified that I used to relax my hair. He's also become obsessed with weaves and everytime he sees a black woman on tv or irl with long hair he's always asking me if her hair is real and then shakes his head in disappointment if I tell him it's not.

He is also surprised by how much people spend on weaves and suggested that we could make a killing if we adopted a couple of little girls from india and shaved their head every year. :look:

My DH always pretends that he's not listening when I'm talking hair but the other day he proved me wrong. I was getting ready to go run errands and I was putting on one of my wigs and I asked him "does it bother you that I wear wigs a lot?" he said "No I know you're just trying to switch up your look....and retain your growth." I was like  so he does pay attention :lachen:

I also notice if I say I'm going to Sally's, he'll have me pick him up a couple of products (he has dreads).

Yep, I told him the other I was thinking about relaxing and he said " You don't need that creamy crack" LOL:lol::lachen:

LOL no he doesn't know about hair, I haven't been on my journey long enough but if someone walks by with some really damaged hair, he will say "Got any tips for her?" or "You should give her the web address for that hair site you're always on"

I give him a year and I bet he'll be able to cornrow my hair. lol

My DH is still learning about hair but now he can notice a wig from a mile away. We were watching Good Times and he said "all along I thought that was Thelma's hair." We were watching the Ebay episode. I just had to laugh.

TOO FUNNY!!!!

My SO is always trying to figure out if someone has a weave or not. Anytime he sees someone with bad hair, he wants to tell them to come and talk to me.

No he does not, and after all these years he SHOULD. But that's just how he is... he uses my brain as the extra memory storage for his brain. If I know something, he concludes that he does not need to know it... because he can always just ask me. This goes for things around our home and garden that actually impact him. My hair has zero impact on him so he doesn't even really care to start with, plus he knows I'm on it :)

He knows a little bit about it. He knows about porosity and cuticles. The other day, we had the "oils don't moisturize" conversation because he wanted to know why "sealing" was necessary.

Lol. Yea, mine can differentiate between bad weaves, wigs and extensions (if they're good he can't tell). He knows that "we need silk/satin, lots of conditioner and steam." lol

I think my DH and your DH were separated at birth. :lachen:

He knows a little. He knows what a co wash is, protective styling (braid-out, twist-out)/stretching/direct heat avoidance and the importance of them. Now mind you he likes my hair best when straight so he loves it when I'm freshly texlaxed and flat iron. It was very cute when over the holidays when I strayed from my routine and used heat two weeks in a row (on low setting) and he looked at me very concerned asked why was I flat ironing it again and said that he did not want me to damange my hair.

This is a cute thread!

He knows what a deep condition treatment is, as well as a braidout/twistout and a wash n go. His hair is pretty long so he demands that I stop "holding out" and "hook him up with the natural stuff". He also volunteers to do "scalp therapy" for me, his name for when I do scalp massages.

Nope. All that fool does is talk about the "grease" that is in all the bathrooms. He picked up a bottle of my conditioner to move it and he even said that was greasy. He can spot a lacefront now though.
