Hi guys!!
I just thought about this.. Is there a good place to get a blow out in the Dominican Republic.. Punta Cana? I hear you all talking about the dominicans all the time..LOL.. In MI, I don't think we have any of these. But my trip to Punta Cana is in 60 days and course I'm worrying about what I'm going to do with my hair! I'm not going to be trying to flat iron at all.. I'll prolly do some WNG, a few buns...but for some of the nights I want the pics to look cute!! LOL!.. Are these dominican blow out things typical to get in the Dominican Republic? So if I just stroll into the resort salon; they'll know what do do with me? LOL!

Well I haven't had the pleasure traveling to the DR yet, but it's on my bucket list. A friend of mine has been but I don't recall her talking about going to the salon while there.

Nevertheless, the DR1 forum may be able to help you. Do a search to see what you come up with or ask a question. http://www.dr1.com/

But I here that the locals are pretty helpful/nice to tourist so if you can find the info here, I'm positive you'll find it when you get there and I'm positive majority all DR salons will use the round brush (blow out) as that is how they are taught to do hair.

Also, I do remember seeing a salon featured on roundbrush.com. It is in Detroit. Here's the linkhttp://dominicanhaircare.com/blog/?cat=6

For the future, on this site, you can enter in your zip to find Dominican salons near you. I might even email her to get her take on any salons in the DR since she is a native http://www.aleida.net/salon-en.html

Good luck and have fun girl!

We do have some in MI....:yep: Also, on roundbrushhair.com, send a note or call Jenn. She's in DR quite a bit and s/b able to give you the name(s) of the ones she visits while there.

There should be a hair salon in the resort you stay in Punta Cana and the girls should know their business. If you are not staying at a resort, chances are that any hair salon you hit up will give you a nice blow out and dirt cheap. If not, ask around once you get there. I'm sure you'll get some recommendations from the locals...

Oh wow how fun! Seems like everybody goes to Punta Cana except me and I was born in DR LOL

I would definitely do what the other posters said, but also make sure you tell them you do NOT want a relaxer. They might just assume you want one. Make a big sign that says No Quiero Desrizado! LOL

Thanks ladies! I remember in college; a girl tried to roundbrush my hair... it came out a big poofy mess... so do they not use flat irons at all?

Eisani! I didn't know you were in the "hood".. I'll be PM'ing you all the time now..LOL..kidding!

:yep: It's cool. You know we gotta stick togeva! :lachen:

One word of warning - DR is SUPER DUPER HUMID _ OMG. the girls at the resort i went to had gorgeous hair, but im not sure if their hair stays nice b/c its adapted to the humidity. If so, yours might not last as long....

I've been to the Dominican Rebupic with my boyfriend ( he's half dominican..his mom is from Santo Dominigo). I wouldn't recomend travling outside the resort to get your hair done...it can be very dangerous there. We were in the "barrio" aka the hood in Santo Domingo, and people were trying to hit me up for money just cause they knew I was American. So unless they have a salon onthe resort, I wouldn't count on getting a Dominican Blowout.
