Hey ladies,

I have been privately trying out a little experiment. I recently cut my hair (a more defined version of of my siggy pic) and with my new fresh ends wanted to try styling and wearing my hair out the majority of the time. I reflected on my past (and also checked out a few sistahs on the board who have done a similar regimen with success), and I decided that I would try to wash, blowdry (yes...blowdry) and flat iron once a week. My hair gets really oily very quickly and two weeks doesn't cut it. SOoooo....I've been doing that for about two months now, and myhair absoultely LOVES it! I moisture the ends EVERY night and pin curl....when I work out I put my hair in a high pony. My edges are back healthy (they were thininng from buns and manipulation) and my ends are just as healthy as the day they were cut....NO SPLITS. i use my heat protectant without fail, and it works for ME. My hair is retaining length and looks Excellent everyday :grin:. Over the summer I'll incorporate a braid out here and there, but I'm truly pleased with my choice. The moral of the story is that everyone's hair responds differently to various treatments.

I just wanted to make this post as an example of someone who CAN use heat weekly with success. Are there others on the board who can attest to the same success with a weekly heat regimen? If so, what do you think contribute to your success???

Thanks Ladies! Happy hair growing!

Congratulations! Yes, I'm going through that same experiment and I'm having great success too. I think it is due to my use of great products (L'occitane Repairing Line) and the use of Ted Gibson's Hair Styling Sheets as a heat protectant.

What are you using?

Hey Christelyn,

I am using good old Nexxus to wash and condition and to blowdry and flatiron, I'm using ION heat protectant spray and CHI respectively. I have a pink ION blowdryer and CHI flatiron. I get salon results that I am very pleased with. In fact, these are the best results I've ever achieved on my own, I would say I've been doing a decent job with my own hair for some time now. I think just letting go of my fear of heat allowed me to really explore the best technique to achieve salon results.
