I wanted to share my success in finding a stylist in my area that works with natural hair. I don't know what other naturals living in SW Michigan have experienced, but it has been a challenge finding a stylist outside of the Detroit area that is willing to work with natural hair.
Well that all change as of today...
I had my hair set on perm rods today by the natural stylist in Kalamazoo. Yes, I said Kalamazoo. It only took me about 5 years find her, LOL! She did an excellent job. My hair looks like a shorter version of Corrine Bailey Rae's hair. It will look even better a week from now after the curls losen up. Keep in mind that I am not trasitioning and I am not biracial. So this look was achieved on my natural 4b/4c hair.
Let me add that she has a great attitude about natural hair. She didn't try to talk me into chemical or heat straigthening. I think she pretty much does anything you might want, even locs. I feel that this is the beginning of a wonderful client/stylist relationship.
