LADIES, at least 25 of you joined this challenge. It has been about 4 months since it started, and my plan was to update every 3 months... so here we go!!!

My growout challenge is going so well!! My sides have grown out a lot, and the front is growing out nicely as well. It finally has enough length where I don't have to wear the front of my hair combed back, (or pulled up) all the time!!

Over the weekend I did a twist-out and I wore it all out with a side part. My boyfriend couldn't stop complimenting my hair!! He was staring at me and his eyes were so bright!!

It was too funny, but I felt so good that he noticed my hair. I feel like all my hard work is paying off!!

Also, my twist-out came out sooo full!! I am finally on my way to having the hair that I've always wanted.

I hope the rest of you are having the same success that I have been!!

Come on ladies... let's hear your updates!!

oh yes my side are growing...I trimmed a little in Nov. because they looked rough to me, but after that it falls wonderfully around my face and my bangs are at the bottom of my nose ( it was mid-to upper nose) I'm really pleased, my neighbor commented on how much my hair keeps growing...she's asked me what I'm doing....as a matter of fact a few of my friends have asked me this at one time or another....

But most recently, my neighbor (during X-MAs) and another friend ( while I had my hair in a braidout style) said WOW your hair is really growing

I've also noticed the "baby hairs" are growing..I've been Surging since Nov. I guess......

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES

That's great, Chipmunk!! I can't wait until my sides get that long!!

I think that when they get to that point, I may maintain them at that length. I've been noticing lately that a lot of women with really long hair have the front cut shorter, like collarbone length or even shorter, and I like that look a lot.

Can I join? My hair is the front is to my mouth the sides are neck length, my goal is to grow my hair to atleast collarbone length.

Happy Growing!! We'll update again in April/May.

My sider are doing WONDERFULLY! I can hardly believe there was a problem with them in the first place!
The front is doing okay, plodding along, getting there slowly but surely!

Well my sides are doing extremely well. The left side which was about 2 inches shorter than the right has caught up (with the help of scalp massages on that side). The front is now at my chin all the way across and overall everything is good. Ill post pictures of my fron and sides soon, since I only bothered to take pictures of the back.

i agreed to do back and sides. the back is coming along great, thanks to surging and castor oiling my scalp regularly. the sides, are harder to notice but i see growth. has it been 4 months? i expected more results by now, but now that im handling the hard water/breakage situation i expect to be GROWING GROWING GONE!

I don't remember if specifically joined this challenge but I know I had issues with this area as well. I must say that wearing the protective styles helped my front and sides to grow without splitting. I found this more to be true when I got my "cut" and found that all of my hair is even (except a very tiny unnoticeable piece). I'm very happy to see that it isn't a problem area for me anymore!

Well, it looks like a lot of the people who joined this challenge are MIA...

Bumping for anyone who might have missed this post...

I wanna join! I think the front of my hair grows the slowest, at least it seemed that way when I was relaxed. Also, the lady who cut my hair thought it was permed ends and cut it shorter than the rest! Right now it stretches to the point where my nose begins to grow from my face.

Well I guess I am the only sob story. My front and sides are getting longer, that is the good part. But I am now 100% sure that I have female pattern baldness. So thanksfully I am working for a derm and will get shots to attempt to regrow the hair there. I'll let you all know how it goes.

My hair is thinning in the crown area. It is still unnoticible unless you are doing my hair. A friend who does banging roollersets (not the same one that does awesome relaxers) first pointed it out to me last may. I didn't think nothing off it but decided to keep an eye on it and it is getting worse. I didn't take it too seriously because I had breakage as well and assumed that was contributing to the overall thinner feel to the section of the hair. Now my first two front middle rollers when I rollerset now look like stripes, if you can picture it. Also when I wear a phytail/bun you can see my scalp in the middle, and I have to play with it to get it covered. So before I end up having to do a comb over

I'm try and get this nipped in the bud.

Oh no! Do older women in your family have this problem, cutebajangirl? The crown is where relaxer is applied 1st. Maybe it's irritated lately? I hope your dermatologist gives you better news.

My bangs are chin length now, and I'm finger detangling exclusively. Despite the Surge, the two temple patches aren't filling in. I think years of weighty latchook extensions stressed those areas. I'll keep Surging, though.

My mom has thinning hair in general and my grandmother is deceased. I don't know where it started and she doesn't pay attention to things like that so I can't ask her. I actually have never had my relaxer applied there first. The back of my hair is much kinkier than the front and so in order to have everything the same texture at the end it is applied to the back first and then worked up to the crown and lastly the hairline. I am trying to be optimistic, I think the shots will kick start the growth. If not then I will start using Rogaine in the front and that will def. work. I am thinking though of changing my hair pratices from rollersets to blow and curl, to remove any tension from the area. However instead of blowdrying it letting it airdry (if done myself) or sitting under the dryer with it loose until it is dry and then curled with a curling iron. I have had this done once before and it looks like a great rollerset.

Count me in too!!!

I want my sides to catch up with the back of my hair...which is growing like a weed. Check back with you ladies in a few months!

im on a mission to grow out my bangs to bra strap length. i had them cut to above eyebrow lenght in march 2003 about 2 inches, now they are a lil past chin length. i hope to be at about underarm length or lower by the end of this year.

I want to join too! My front is past my chin and sides are just below shoulders but the back is longer (a litle pass shoulder blades) my hair has always grown out this way back longer than front and sides. I hope to have it almost all one length. I'm working on it.

Hi! I'm not sure if I joined this or not, but I must admit, lately I haven't been takig very good care of my hair. I've been having houseguests, exams,... and unfortuately, I've neglected my hair a bit. Still been doing the regular maintenance, but not going the extra mile so ot speak. Because of this, I haven't progressed as well as I'd have liked to, so my front and sides are still inching along. The rest of my hair is O.K. but could use a little more TLC. I had a little breakage, which I believe was the drier ends, which I stoppped with a protein treatment- good thing! But, I should have had a little more length than I did when I measured it, which is what I guess the breakage came from.
A question for those of you who have had great success- what was the best thing you did to contribute to your growth? Surging? massage?...?

I'm making good progress. Stretching out my relaxer for 5 months was the BEST thing I could've done for my hair. It's helped recover the damage overprocessing has done to me
clap.gif
. BUT I still got MUCH more progress to go

!

@Cutebajangirl, my mom also had a small area of her crown, which was thin, also so have I, but since I have started Surging and castor oil, plus massaging my crown has definetly helped. I also remember my grandmother alway has thick hair, but every night, she would massage her head. I think I will also like to join in the front and sides challenge.

Hey all. I have been doing good with the challenge. My sides are an inch past shoulderlength, and my right side is just 1/16th of an inch shorter than my other side, others don't even notice a difference. My hair is still growing in the v shape or u shape but my sides are doing great!
