I have only had on these braids for a week and it looks more like a month!! I'm wondering if this means my hair is growing. Any ladies experience the same in relation to braids and growth?

Yes, I've had the same experience and it does not necessarily mean growth.
In 1 week, you have bathed, laid down, sweated, been out in the weather. Taken off & put on shirts, coats, sweaters, and tied on a scarf at night many times.
All of these things can contribute to slight shifting and manipulation of your braids, causing fuzzies. Also if they are individuals or box braids with extensions, the roots do tend to slip some in the first 2 weeks.

Oh yeah...that makes sense. I do a rinse after every work out...
