I like the definition, but my hair was so crunchy yesterday --- today I used a curl hydrator spray and jojoba oil to style, but I would like to hear what others are doing....

How do you remove the gel crunch?

I let crunch last the first day or two. It'll naturally go away. The more I leave it alone the more days I can get out of my wash n go. By day 2 or 3 it's mostly gone and starting to get voluminous. By day 4 or 5 I have big fluffy soft hair. I wash again on day 6 or 7. I also only air dry cause I'm a lazy natural lol.

Gels I use are wetline extreme, ecostyler, and mane choice crystal orchid gel, so I definitely have crunch.

If it’s a really heavy crunch and the dew points aren’t in my favor nothing will get the crunch out.
If it’s mild weather as I scrunch with oily hands the cast breaks and the soft hair is there.
Dew points and humectants play a big factor for me in the north east.

Kccc and UFD scrunch out after the cast regardless of weather because of the ingredients.

I saw one woman using a diffuser, but I want to avoid heat. I will definitely try heavier oils. Maybe moringa next time.

I use wet line and after a day or two the crunch is gone. I workout so I’m not sure if sweating has anything to do with it.

I apply a penetrating oil before and after gel application. I prefer Camellia Kissi, Argan or Khadi Naturals oils. I have low porosity fine hair strands.

I have Argan. I’ll try it! You mean while styling before the hair is dry?

Yes. I should preface that I only use gel for wash n’ gos. On damp hair I apply a water-based leave in, oil, then detangle. I then apply my gel, then a bit more of oil and diffuse or air dry.

For me, the crunch comes when my hair isn’t properly moisturized, so I load with as much moisture and lock it in with oil before gel touches my hair.

My crunch is gone by day 2 after I sleep on it. But if it’s too crunchy on day 1, I’ll scrunch it out once my hair is dry.

Oil before I gel. You still have crunch but not a really hard crunch if you used no product underneath

I've used refresher sprays like APB's refresher spray or one I use from the DR. I also found that using a slippy type leave-in from either She Scent It or Mielle Organics or Curl Junkie's seem to work really well when mixed with water, vigorously shaken up in a spray bottle and sprayed on already gelled up hair 1 day old or longer, like I would with a refresher spray. My hair comes out so soft and silky feeling afterwards.

Thanks, something I m must consider.

Leave-In Cream -------------> Oil-------------> Gel= little to no crunch.

Sometimes I will wait until my hair is almost dry and scrunch oil on my ends when I don't mind a little crunch. My curls hold their shape for a good 3-4 days before I redo them.
