Hello!! I wanted to say congrats on completing the chemo and happy growing!!!
Hi Brenda! 
I am so happy to hear that you are doing well and finishing up what I know was an ordeal.
You are like me, I don't get into the wild growth concoctions, I just want healthy regular growth.
My suggestions would be to use aloe vera and rosemary EO those are two natural things that I stand by and use faithfully. Do your homework on using essential oils because they are very potent. I learned a lot about them doing internet searches and narrowed it down to the oils that would be useful to me. And of course let you MD in on what you are doing.

So glad to hear you're out of chemo and on your way. Just like a master artist you have an opportunity to work with a fresh slate and create a masterpiece.
Take your time and grow your hair natural and healthy, you'll be glad you did.
Also in addition to aloe vera and eo's, have you considered ayurveda? There are tons of threads on the subject and that stuff is as natural as they come.

peep Bargello's Regimen. Do a web search and you find a host of vitamins that helped her nurse her hair back to health.

Two cautions: Rosemary essential oil is dangerous to those with high blood pressure.
Also, some baby shampoos contain SLS (Sodium Laryl (sp?) and/or laureth Sulfate). Your scalp and hair would benefit from an all natural non-SLS shampoo during this delicate time.
I've reviews for such poos in my drugstore album (See my fotki link in my signature below) and I know the ladies here at LHCF will have many wonderful suggestions as well!

Or you can try the Mega-tek Rebuilder. It has worked for chemotherapy patients,also

Well first of all CONGRATS for finishing your Chemo!!
My aunt had stage 3 breast cancer and had to do chemo. It was really tough for her....so congrats again and I wish you well in your continued recovery! Ok so onto the hair. My aunt's hair grew back at first like 3cish. After about 2-3 months it went back to her normal 4b as it was growing out. I know that she has choosen not to put chemicals in her hair anymore. She's just using braids and twist extensions to grow out her hair. it let's her rest, and her hair too. I would just say that if you go the extension route, be sure you read up on proper care, and don't let the braider/twister do them too tight especially round your edges in the front/back.

Congrats Brenda and welcome. You don't have to use baby shampoo unless you really want to. There are some organic shampoos that work just as well without any SLS dyes or any funky chemicals.
I've had to do chemo 2 times 4 years apart. The first time was the harshest, 2nd time wasn't as bad, I didn't lose all my hair thankfully.
However, both times when my hair grew out after chemo the first time it was NOT its normal texture. It was like that for about a year. I'm normally a 4 something and this was like a very loose 3. Believe me, if you've had any type of curly hair, in time it will change back.
About the only thing I noticed was how fragile my was even though it was natural. I would do a basic wash and condition and thats it as it was quite thin coming back that first time. All I can say is wait until you know exactly what your hair and scalp will react to something.
I was told by my doc to not relax for at least a year. Not sure why that is, but I paid attention and let my hair do whatever it wanted naturally. SO anything harsh wouldn't be a good idea to do.

Baby shampoo may not be as delicate as you think. Some baby poos are harsher than adult poos because they were created to remove cradle cap. I know that I just bought a big ole bottle of Giovanni direct organic poo from Costco for like $6. It does not have sulfates. I like the poo and I *love* their leave in conditioner. Whole Foods has the leave in conditioner.

Congratulations on completing you chemo. What a blessing. My daughter completed her radiation and chemo treatments in 2004. She lost all of her hair. Since then, it has grown back to MBL. All I did was treat her hair very gently: shampooed with very diluted castile soap and conditioned with olive oil (that had been prayed over by our pastor). As her hair was growing back she wore satin headbands. When her hair was long enough, I did finger coils and twists.
We have chosen not to put chemicals in her hair. I did not use any growth aids on her hair, because we had been through enough trauma and we were afraid to try anything that was not natural.
Now that she is 16, I flat iron her hair periodically.

This post just struck something in my whole soul
I wont bother to put into words. But I have faced a lot myself . possible breast cancer just two years ago and the loss of my best friend to breast cancer around the same time, and you know what, this post is just another wake up call that life is too damn short and precious to even partake in or let even half the hate and bull that goes on around here at times, have any effect on one's heart or soul! ugh

God bless you. I'm sure you'll grow a pretty head of hair in. My cousin went through the same thing not long ago. She truly embraced the short hair look after years of arm pit length hair. Her hair grew in baby soft. She found some really cute and stylish hats for the winter months.

I'm just seeing this post and I wanted to reply because I am so happy for you and I understand. Almost 2 years ago I had a bone marrow transplant for lymphoma cancer. I'd never had silky hair and it literally scared me when my hair grew back straight. It's back to normal now, just thicker. The biggest mistake I made though was starting to relax my hair again. But as it grew in I and my husband absolutely loved that sassy short hair look. I'm trying to see how long I can grow it now.
