hair type?

hey everyone hope i'm not being annoying with the hair type question! this is my second post! i think i'm a 3c but another lady said 3a. anyways these are some pics of my hair dry with no product. i know it's frizzy damaged and needs to be cut lol. can anyone tell me? thanks

Dry hair, no product...I would guess 3a!

But honestly, most people have more than one hair type, so there could be some 3b and c in there too.

there are no ''kinks'' in your hair to be a MAJORITY 3c which is what 3c hair is meant to be curly/kinky hair


3C hair.......•3a: Curls are naturally big, loose and usually very shiny.
Circumference: sidewalk-chalk size

these are 3a im well aware that they have been styled etc but its to give a visual of the looser curl that is 3a..i see more 3a in your hair than any other ''type'' CLAIM IT baby

You look like a 3a to me. 3c has bouncy springy curls, your hair is more like a wavy texture.

Do you think you may have some heat damage? Also coloring can loosen the curl.
If not, 3a. If so, you may have been a 3bc beforehand. That's what I've been told I am.

I think both Nicole Kidman and Debra Messing(sp?) have heat damage or styling has changed their curls. Remember Nicole when she first came out?

i think i do have some heat damage near my bang area that hair won't curl or anything. i haven't flat ironed my hair in a couple months so i guess my roots are closer to what my hair type is at least on the top and sides i think it is 3a but my crown hair is like different. i pulled one hair out from there it's twice as thick and it's harder to flat iron when i do. i think it might be 3b or 3c. the hair dye has definitely made it frizzier! your hair looks really nice and thick. i wish all mine was. most of it's so thin like my grandmas.

yeah kidman hair unstyled hair isnt like the one i pictured but i just meant the look they have gone for resembles 3a i was also cruising naturallyc for pics

i dont think you can ever count on celebs considering all the styling that goes into their hair but i was just using them as a visual its better than nothing i guess....or is it

you probably do have some damage. I'd lay off the flat iron a little longer and allow your hair to recover. I had similar problems when I was going to the Dominican salon every month. Now I go once or twice a year for my straight fix. My hair is a little thicker and less loose.

Oh and trust me, my hair isn't thick - it used to be but aging and probably some damage has taken it's toll. It's better since I've tried to pay attention to heat and color - still wavy but it will curl with twisting.

I think Bette Midler's hair might be 3B:

Her curls are definitely bigger than 3C we see in Rachel True or Jada Pinkett.

You guys are so right on Nicole Kidman's hair. She looks like she could even be 3C:

Mariah's coils are definitely bigger than 3C so I'd think they were 3B:

Maybe Drew Barrymore is 3A?

I think 3a is like wavy hair, but it stands out more from the head so to speak. 3a hair is usually straight when it's cut short and shows more curl as it grows...

3b is the typical corkscrews á la Shirley Temple.

3c is like corkscrews on speed

What differentiates 3A from 3B IMO is curl size:

Where did you guys get the definition that 3A is wavy?

IMO Type 3 is all curls not waves. The coils in 3A are indeed so big that they do flop and look wavy but I wouldn't say it's the wave that makes it 3A. Otherwise heavy strands that hang from the weight of products would all cease to be 3C and become 3A. The elongation of heavy strands due to product or water is a type of manipulation IMO not a type. IMO 3A coils can't help hanging coz of their size... and it is SIZE not shape that determines TYPE.

3A = biggest curls in existence; 4B = tiniest curls in existence.

This is Rachel True's manipulated hair. The coils hang looser but that doesn't mean her 3C hair suddenly turned to another type coz of the coils looking wavy. The extended coil looks like a wave but it isn't a wavy. It's a stretched "slinky" of 3C hair:

Damaged 3C hair could also look like that but it'd still be 3C hair.

Here's is Rachel's hair normally looking moisturized/glossy:

Her hair looking somewhat dry (frizzy?) or maybe it is just the color not reflecting light as well, but still her 3C coils are unmistakable:

3A coils IMO are always HUGE. That is separates them from all others. That's why I posted Nicole's hair initially, until someone reminded me of how her hair looked. So I found kids whose hair pattern is most likely natural. Drew Barrymore I think is a good example of 3A curls:
