Hey, a few people have been asking me for details on how I self-relax using the half-half method. I wrote it in my fotki journal for anyone who is interested. Feel free to leave a comment if things are unclear.

No probs. Does anyone know how to enable posting comments in the fotki journal? Or is it only for paying customers?

Hiya,xx
i just stumbled across this thread and was wondering if you could help...i also want to learn how to self relax...my stylist does the relaxer bit perfectly but i am not impressed with her need to tear out my hair when washing (snap, crackle, pop!!) and drying (ditto).
Your instructions are very helpful, but i need to know, is it possible to apply the relaxer on hair very very quickly and with minimal overlapping?
My hair is super super sensitive and fine as well. The one time i tried self relaxing i overprocessed my whole head and burnt 50% of my scalp:(. I lost 75% of my hair after that.
Needless to say, i am very wary about trying again...especially now that i use molten larver ( lye) relaxer for my hair.
Any tips?
Ps...lone1, your growth is amazing!:lachen:

Hey, thanks. I think your main concern should be precsion, but being quick at the same time is also important. The only way to get quicker is to practice with conditioner. I now apply the relaxer in about 7 minutes to the back section and the use the other 11 mins to smooth, if you practice you can do it to. Alternativly, you could relax in 3 separate sections, 2 at the front, one at the back, that way you will have a smaller area to cover and a longer amount of time, meaning you wont have to rush/be quick. London Diva has a step by step guide in her album. Let me know how it goes.

I just relaxed my hair in two sections by accident. I put in my relaxer last Wednesday and the back of my hair didn't relax at all so yesterday I applied relaxer to that area. I was worried that I wouldn't be texlaxed anymore but with all of the protein and porosity control that I use my hair came out excellent. I didn't have any shedding and my hair actually looks thick and full and lush. I know it will continue to improve. :D

Im from the UK and they have pleanty of those disposable ones in all shops, not sure where to buy it where you are..
