IT AIN'T :look: !

Or at least you think it ain't.

The other day, my mum said to me, "It's getting long, your hair has always been long." :perplexed

When I lightly flat ironed on Saturday my boyfriend was like "Is that a wig... your hair has grown LLOONGGG!! "

A co-worker at work asked me why I keep wearing wigs because my hair is so long :look:.

WHAT! :perplexed

As you girls may know, I'm shoulder length... nearly APL. I DO NOT (I repeat), I DO NOT think my hair long at all. I'm not even sure if I want to call it medium length!

Any of you ladies experienced this type of thing?

Yeah, my mom and FH's dad told me this recently. My hair is ONLY shoulder length. It always has been. But it's a little closer to APL....I said A LITTLE, but for some reason everyone thinks its so much longer:rolleyes:

yea my mom and a friend told me this the other day. i was just like its not even long! i want it to be longer, then i pouted like a little baby after i was reminded how bad i was to be at BSL already :lachen:

Yes, I've been told that and to me its not long well at not to me and I'm APL. I guess you have to look at the person hair that said it, if their hair is shorter than yours then of course they would think your hair is longer. :yep:

I get that whenever I wear my hair down. And while it feels GREAT to have people "ooh" and "ah" over my hair, I DO NOT feel like it's long. I'm APL, and there are still days when I feel bald headed (I have pretty bad hair anorexia :perplexed )

But we do have to rememer that APL-hell, anything past SL-in the real world is considered long!

This happens to me whenever I flat-iron...which is not often. When curly my hair is just past SL, when straight, it's almost BSL. So I understand it, even if I disagree!

Yeah... usually it's family members that say it. Or a few random people who have described me as the "darkskinned girl with long hair"... I'm always like, "Who???". I tell them I don't have long hair... yet.

ETA: My hair is only APL.

Yeah .. kids at my school said it got long since the beginning of the year .. I'm SL .. I was like ..:perplexedThanks ..

I get that from my friends and family. I think its because they are so use to seeing my hair in either braids or with added tracks, but my hair has been then length most of my life. But then again sometimes I think they only view my hair as "long"(nowhere near long barley past shoulder on my good days) is because most of them have short damaged hair.

Okay, let's be realistic. What's long in real life is different from LHCF standards. In real life, shoulder length or longer is considered "long" to a lot of people. Just accept the compliment. Shoot, SL is long to me since my haircut :spinning:.

Ummm....you must be blind.:look:
Your hair is long and gorgeous!:yep:

"Hi. My name is Hair Peace and I'm a hair anorexic."

My friends and DH keep telling me it's long but it's just not to me. DH thought I was wearing a phony pony and got the shock of HIS life when he realized I wasn't. I dunno. I'll see how I feel when I actually reach BSL. Then maybe I'll agree with everybody else.:ohwell:

Yes, and I always thought it was funny. I consider my hair "longish" now but back when it was shorter and people would say that I was always like...:perplexed

But then, I'm a hair snob so long to me is loooong.:lachen:

I feel like this too. To the ladies, in this thread that say their hair isn't long, I'd gladly take your length:yep:

Years ago, my friends used to say: “Your hair is long.” Back then it was shoulder length. I didn’t think it was long at all, :nono: but one of my friends (Paula) said: “According to Black people, it is long.” :yep:

Now when the same friends see me, they are really shocked! :wallbash: It’s uneven, but the right side is waist length and the left side is below bra clasp length, but they say: “It looks good.” I don’t tell them that its uneven.:lachen:

Vesta, Your hair is a very nice length and Many people would consider it categorize it as long.

In the non-hair-forum world I think Hair that lays on the shoulders is considered long by most people.

On a different note: I was up in your fotki and I think we may be hair twins. What do you think?

I had it out with the ladies at the African braiding salon!

One of them put me on blast for getting 16" and 18" hair

"Your hair is too long for 16!!!"" she informed me that my hair was not going to turn out right... :nono:

I live 20 some odd miles away from the shop so I told her I could'nt take it back and the lady in the salon told me....blah blah

This woman would NOT back down!! she was all loud informing me my hair was going to cause soooo much of a problem because of my length.

My hair is not even collarbone :ohwell::nono:

:lachen:what are they smoking?

:lachen:what are they smoking?

They are just used to dealing with pick a nannie hair! :perplexed I don't even think they regard hair as anything other than the thing they use to attach the extensions! :perplexed

I got home and removed the entire front two rows... heffas :ohwell:

I have. I don't even know what to say. I mean, really, what do you say? I just deny it or ignore it and change the subject.

i wish people told me my hair was long ... schupsee ...
(even though i dont think it is .. but it would still be good to hear it)

*patience is the key*

Yes! My boyfriend's roommate called me Pocahontas the other day. Last I checked, I'm just a little past APL when wet or when it's super straight, no body. While APL is long on a lot of ladies, I'm 5'7" and a half, so it doesn't look that long on me, at least in my opinion.

Almost APL is considered long in the real world.

this is true. especially when you barely see full sl on most "irl people" (lol is there a better term?)

back before i got on forums i thought reachin apl was like goin for wl, so i understand

Hah... I wish I had this problem. It'll be a long time before I have to worry about anyone calling my hair long.
