HATER UPDATE: \"Why do you always wear that bun?

The clerk from yesterday that said my hair looks short had the DIRTY NERVE

to ask me this today!!! Well that was that was the last straw! I kindly smiled

, and very matter-of-factly told her that I wear my hair in this plain old bun because if protects my hair from being all chewed up and split on the ends like hers! Ya'll should have SEEN the look on her face!

It was priceless! If looks could have killed, my butt would have been laid out! But she didn't say anything else to me the rest of the morning. And my judge, who's an AA woman, even nodded and winked at me as if to say "You go girl!" She had it coming, and I just smiled to myself w/ complete satisfaction!!!

Do you work at a court house ? Anyways, you had a right to defend yourself, but you know how people can be, make sure she doesn't get within 10 feet of your hair. There's no tellin what she might try now that she's been "told." Just try to stay away from her to keep the peace.

Yes, I'm a criminal defense attorney in Miami. I can't get too crazy in court b/c I don't want to get arrested!

Anyways, I want to thank you guys for all the great advice. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't come on this forum and vent my feelings! Thanks for understanding and having my back!

I can not believe that she said that. What made her think that she knew you like that to say that to you? I'm with megonw. She wants to know what you're doing. Next time you go to court, give her some tips on how to take care of her hair so that she can have gorgeous hair like yours. I'm all for helping all sistahs out no matter how ignorant they seem. Some people just don't know how to ask for help.

Maybe you can go up to her and apologize for letting the "revenge devil" get to you but let her know that you were highly offended by her comments and if she wants to know more about your regimen that you will be glad to share your hair care tricks.

Even though I'm suggesting that you do this just to show there are no hard feelings, I probably would have done the same thing. She really did have it coming.

Oh okay, you're a lawyer. So there is probably no way around seeing her. Well, at least you finally got a chance to vent. I agree in that perhaps you can clue her in to your hair secrets and tell her about the forum. Some people won't respect you until you give them a piece of your mind,after you've told them about themselves all of a sudden you can't get rid of them. Keep us posted about how she acts in the future.

Hahahahaha! Jainy girl that is toooooo funny!!!! You know I'm learning so much from this board! Not just the hair stuff, but personal/spiritual growth stuff as well!! Ayanapooh that was absolutely priceless!!! She really did have it coming! I guess I'll have to pray to get the "revenge devil" off my back if someone were to make those comments to me too! It's really hard and there are soooo many haters who want you to stand there shocked that they said something so ridiculous and callous so they can feel they "brought us down a notch, because we think we're all that".........of course we don't, but people with crunchy, chewed, brokend off hair will look at you that way and assume we think we're all that! Anyway, I LOVE the way you handled her and I would have done the same! I'll have to work though on being loving toward someone who is purposely trying to ruin my day and make me mad! That takes a LOT of "love for thy neighbor" even when thy neighbor is a complete dumbass! Man! Haters make it hard!!! Haters are impending my spiritual growth process!!! Yikes!

Let me explain.
For many of us we have not been taught how to control our feelings or emotion. Many of us have not been taught to be content with what others may have success with. To be content that is for someone elses accomplishment.
Envy or jealousy is actually a discontnt or resentment aroused by another's desirable possessions often accompanied by a strong desire to have them as well.
So it is quite clear there is something about you Anayapooh that she desired. Or wished she had just like you. It could be your status, education, looks, professionalism, hair, personna etc. She just did not know how to express it with etiquette. And the only thing she could find fault with is your bun. So often many find it easier to destroy what others have that they desire ,,,instead of asking how to achieve the same accomplishments. They have too much pride.
Similiar to what Jesus went through, but of course not as extreme.
So as crazy as it may sound she admired you or your bun.

I agree Sterry, I guess I just don't have as much patience for lowly evolved creatures! I too think the hair is the icing on the cake for all her jealousies of you Ayanapooh! She's probably jealous of your education, profession, looks, everything............and then to top it off.......you come in there with nice, beautiful long hair too!!!! She's just letting hate eat her up and I've encountered far too many people like this in my life!!! I used to stand there shocked, hurt and speechless........so shocked I couldn't even defend myself! But now that I'm older and wiser to the ways of the world, I would have spoken up for myself like Ayanapooh did!!! Lowly evolved creatures only understand the same mess they spew out sometimes! But you're right - that was HER ass-backward (excuse my language please) way of complimenting her. My cousin, who in my opinion is arguably one of the most beautiful women to ever walk the Earth, used to have this problem with Haters in the looks/face/hair/shape/clothes/style department all the time!! It was so bad in college girls used to talk behind her back when she walked by but loud enough so she could hear them! And if guys commented on her looks, girls that were nearby would always have something negative to say like "she's not all that!" I really learned watching her that it really can be difficult being absolutely strikingly gorgeous! And this sounds like the same problem you're having Ayanapooh with your hair. My cousin used to literally get sick with stomach cramps and dizziness before going to certain classes! ONce when we went to a football game at Southern Univ in Baton Rouge, she told me just listen when we walk by this row.............here it comes.........and sure enough........it did!!! She's a very very sweet person, but chicks just HATED!!! I always felt so bad for her! I thought I'd get it every now and then but for her, it was a daily way of life! AND.....some of the chicks that would hate on her were gorgeous themselves!!! Just ridiculous and sooooo hurtful!!
