To all the ladies who successfully transitioned without a BC:

I am sort of new to this site and felt inspired by all the success that some of you have had transitioning without a big cut.

Its been almost 5 months since I permed my hair. For the past 2 months I have been on a regmine of co washing every 2-3 days and wearing no heat, low mani styles (and looking like a bum!). I usually wear my hair pinned up to prevent breakage but today I wanted to try something different so I put it in a ponytail. I was shocked to see that my hair is getting severely thin:blush:! I usually have really thick 4a/4b hair and I am just not used to it being so thin.

I have been moisterizing daily, sealing with coconut oil and applying Giovanni Direct Leave in conditioner when I wash. I mix up my co washing between a honey protien treatment and a moisturizing treatment to keep my hair balanced. I have been taking biotin, biosil, MSM, and flax as supplements. What am I doing wrong? :wallbash:

I really want natural hair but I cant deal with short hair right now. I just dont look right with short hair so I have to find a way to keep my hair or I will have to perm it:nono:. Please help me ladies. Thanks

It seems like you're taking great care of your hair, so I don't think your ends are thinning. I think your ends may APPEAR thinner because of all of the thick newgrowth you have on your head. Is this your first time stretching? Are you experiencing a lot of breakage?

I'm almost 12 weeks post, and I joined the deep conditioning challenge. Since my hair breaks BAD past 10 weeks, I've been dc'ing with my softbonnet dryer every other day for an hour on medium heat. I think it's been about a week and a half since I joined the challenge, and my hair is doing FANTASTIC. My newgrowth is so soft and managable and my ends are super moisturized. You should give it a try, it's really done wonders for my hair

HTH!

Thanks Tiffers. This is my first time transitioning and I agree that it may be that my thick natural hair makes my permed hair feel thin. It just doesnt feel like the same thickness when I pull it back into a ponytail.

I have not been deep conditioning with heat but I do a weekely baggy treatment overnight. I think you are right that I should start DCing under heat so I think I will give it a try before I give up. Just bought some Aveda products so hopefully that will work.
