Henna on ends only?

Has anyone tried this? My ends usually tangle together, they aren't damaged or dry. So I just applied henna to the ends. They feel stronger, and have stooped tangling, maybe it will prevent splits in the future? I only do glosses on the rest of my hair now, I have coarse strands so have to be careful with henna, but my ends need all the help they can get.
