I follow Issa Quisqueya on Youtube and she recently shared her oatmeal and almond oil gel. She's got some amazing hair so I thought I'd try it. Plus I've been in a hair rut lately and kinda bored with my hair so I wanted to try something new.

Here is a link to the video:

DISCLAIMER: the video is in Spanish, but the recipe should be easy to follow anyway since you only need three ingredients - water, almond oil, and oatmeal. Please forward to 1:47 to see the step by step instructions.

Issa Quisqueya used 2 table spoons of oatmeal, but I used 4
8 ounces of water
2 tablespoons of almond oil

Boil the water and add the oatmeal. Stir until it's a thick consistency and use a strainer to divide the oatmeal from the liquid. I used pantyhose from the dollar store LOL to remove the excess oatmeal. I certainly didn't want that mess in my hair once it dried. I added 2 tablespoons of almond oil, stirred, and kept it in a container overnight before applying. In the morning I washed my hair, kept a leave-in conditioner, and applied the gel. The picture below is my hair just slightly damp on the roots. My hair felt fluffy and it gave me great hold.

Today I decided to use flexirods for the first time so I used this same gel on my hair. My hair feels and smells great. I love it! I think I'm going to flexirod the entire summer to make sure my hair stays stretched.

Picture 1 - me and my granddaughter. I used the gel in her hair too. She has a fluffy wash and go. She loves the smell
Picture 2 - my flexirod
Picture 3 - my wash & go (not the best picture, it looked nicer once it completely dried)
