How can I make a regular wig into an omega part?

I saw the most beautiful wig in a shop today. It's Beverly Johnson, "Danielle". It's a full wig with part in the center, and supposedly hand-stitched. This wig was so pretty and the hair was flowy. They didn't have my color, which ws the only thing that kept me from getting it  . However, though the part has some tinted skin, it still has that wig part look. I was thinking of maybe cutting out an omega shaped wedge in it to make it an omega wig, or maybe even trying to get some lace and making just the hairline and that part a lacefront. Only problem, is that I've never done either before! I am afraid that if I cut it it might just fall apart. So, basically I'm asking if anyone has ever done this before--cut a wig and made the front a lacefront or an omega part, and if so what are your tips to keep me from ruining it? TIA!
PS I'd like to get a lacefront, but from reading all the vendor drama, it just seems like too much work to try to go on faith that I'd get what I wanted.I can't spend that kind of money, give someone my exact specs and then end up with something different than I ordered and no hope of returining it.
