How do you care for your texlaxed hair?

i care for it just like my natural hair. moisturize then bun or rollerset air dried, with the same products on that i used when natural except i add lottabody to the mix for hold. DC on dry hair every three days, dont use shampoo, theres my whole reggie

I DC for 30 minutes and wash once a week then I air dry and sometimes I'll flat iron my hair afterwards. Other times I moisturize it with shea butter and do a braidout. I moisturize maybe 2x a week with shea butter and seal with castor oil and every 16 weeks I texlax with HS mild. Lately I've been trying to wear it in a bun. Depending on how my hair feels after working out I may cowash once a week.

This probably seems stupid to ask but how do you rollerset. I'm going to begin texlaxing. I would really like to know which rollers are good to use. I don't want to use heat though.

I usually do a ponytail rollerset if I want to wear it semi-straight with body, but have been doing more CW'g, bunning, and braidouts, since I'm trying to up my cardio.

Some of my favorite products are: Redken butter treat, HE LTR, Fantasia serum ( in fuschia bottle), Hawaiian Silky miracle worker), Suave Humecto, elasta mango butter, and coconut/amla oil.

I feel like I have more versatility with my texlaxed hair than when I was bone straight, since my hair is so fine. My ends have thickened up over time, and as I grow out, I may trim them away or see if they continue to thicken. I had a stylist who used to overprocess me all the time, and I was getting thinner and thinner but could never understand why. I am now DIY'er and my hair got thicker. I didn't know about texlaxing and that you could deliberately underprocess your hair.

My routine is pretty much the same as it was when I was bonelaxed, except I don't feel the compulsion to break out the flat-iron like I did when I was bone straight to keep it bone straight. There is much less of a need to blend textures, ( except for my slightly straighter ends). I just make sure to keep NG moisturized and I'm good.

It's not stupid to ask, Ishtar. There are zillions of threads about it if you use the search feature, and quite a few different ways of doing it. Here's a few links to help.

The type of rollers is really a matter of preference. I use the magnetic ones with metal clips. Some prefer the snap on magnetics which work well too. The larger the roller, the " straighter" the look. If you use the proper tension while rolling, you get silky bouncy hair with no heat ( well, unless you sit under a dryer, which is indirect).

Lately, I have not had much time for my hair, so, on weekly basis, I just co-wash with Suave or VO5 conditioner, rollerset and airdry. However, My normal routine is outlined on my "About Me" page in fotki (link in siggy).

This probably seems stupid to ask but how do you rollerset. I'm going to begin texlaxing. I would really like to know which rollers are good to use. I don't want to use heat though.

No question is stupid...I have some pics of rollersets on magnetic rollers in my fotki, in the "How Is It Done?" folder. I hope you love texlaxed hair as much as I do.

Thanks for the responses. It recently dawned on me that maybe I should treat my texlaxed hair more like I would natural hair, especially wash and goes. When I was natural I only used aveda's brilliant line which worked great on my hair. What are some good products to control frizz when you wash and go?

I treat my texturized hair like my natural hair. Shampoo once a week, deep condition once a week, co-wash once a week (now dat ive started exercising). I usually i wear braidouts or other stretched styles or buns... i hardly flat iron. When my hair needs it during the week I spray with water/glycerine mix and seal wit shea butter/oil mix.I use my homemade flaxseed gel for hold when styling
