HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF HAIR WITH A WEAVE?

I just got a weave last week from a very good stylist who is very practiced. We used nature girl curly hair and I have a modified Afro (I cut it short which pained me as the hair cost so darn much) I have very little hair out and she used a net after first braiding my hair underneath with a little bit of fake hair to protect it. She said to use an applicator bottle to apply IC leave in moisturizer which is a thin liquid to my own hair under the net every couple of days. I snuck a little MTG in that in hopes that my hair would grow like weeds while I rested it. Every two weeks I wash the hair under the net by mixing avalon organics lemon and shea butter clarifying shampoo with a lot of water and applying that with an applicator bottle. I let it sit for a few minutes and then put the shower nozzle right on my head. BUT I have heard stories about bad matting and if anything can go wrong with my hair it will. She said I can keep it in for 4 months but less time is better. I live in another country and got it done in NYC from someone reccommended, so its hard for me to get back there too often. (she's top notch and says that she is very good at growing the hair underneath) It was breaking and I don't have the time to care for it at the moment nor to try to make it look good for work. I am taking vitamins--hair growth, flaxseed, omega 3 and I always drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet.
So that's my story. Any advice/horror stories/tips? Thanks in advance ladies!!!!!!

Hi girl,
i just read you ciggie and i actually wonder if weaves will help your hair?? perhaps continueing TLc may help it more?
Let me explain...
weaves ruined my hair. Before LHCF it was weak scanty, brittle:confused:...the list could go on. I swore off weaves and have been Deep conditioning my hair weekly, doing seperate co washes/ protein treatments, my hair with a silk scarf at night, etc, and my hair has made a massive u turn already...and i just joined september. I feel that braids and cornrows are actually more beneficial to the hair than weaves...
People that have healthy heads of hair may get away with weaves
That being said, sorry if i sound like angel doom. i am pretty sure i saw a weave challenge somewhere. In it, I'm sure you'll find valuable tips for keeping your hair healthy while its in the weave.
good luck:)
